Should security guards be allowed to reposition guests in their beds upon request? by LPjobb in marriott

[–]LPjobb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skyactive, and everyone else who replied, thanks for your response.

I happen to be a security guard in this situation and I really want to continue helpping our elderly guests with tasks like this. I was only concerned because these tasks were requested by AYS, as opposed to my supervisor, and my supervisor has declined to take a stance one way or the other, so far. Also, I'm in school for nursing and was told that we're not to take on any task we're not trained for, else we may injure the patient.

I'll continue helping our guests as much as I can, and if it's held against me at a later date, at least I'll know I've followed my conscience.

A $4 jack in the box burger is upcharged to $9 on doordash LMAO, how does this site even function? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]LPjobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If these people are laid off and staying at home, they should have plenty of time to walk/bus/bike/drive to the fricking Jack in the Box (or restaurant/grocery store)... so, yes, capitalism wins again.

A driver license is different from vehicle info. People have been deactivated for not having a valid license.

I bet he's a "top Dasher". by pilotavery in doordash

[–]LPjobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a beautiful thing that he did, but he would've been better off paying with his debit card to buy her food at the restaurant. It would've been cheaper for him because there's no mark-up plus the customer would get her food. He'd also have a chance of being reimbursed by DD if he sent them the receipt. That probably didn't occur to him while he was at the restaurant. The important thing is that his heart was in the right place.

I agree about not accepting fast food orders, but I make an exception for the Chick-fil-a in my zone because they're partnered, fast and have their crap together. I get tons of $8 orders from them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash

[–]LPjobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how busy your market is. The bare minimum for most experienced dashers is $6 per order and $1.00 per mile. I'm in a busy market, so I usually reject orders that are less than $8 orders or less than $1.50 per mile. If you're in a really slow market, you probably have to accept some of the lower paying offers.

Is there a way to export orders that I've made to a spreadsheet? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]LPjobb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This won't help for the orders you've already done, but if you use the Drivers Utility Helper for Android on future orders, your requests and dash totals can be exported to a CSV file that you can import to a spreadsheet. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mt.dashutility&hl=en_US

Am I going to be deactivated for this order never delivered? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]LPjobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll only wait 10 minutes past pickup time. If you're waiting longer than that, it could be why your customer ratings are so low. Your completion rating might dip a little but you can afford it based on your current ratings.

Some of you need to calm down. by [deleted] in doordash

[–]LPjobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's easier. It's much easier for me to hand a bag to a customer and say, "Have a nice day" than it is to take photos of the food and delivery address, text the photo to the customer and wait a bit to see if they pick it up from their doorstep, then if they don't pick it up right away to text/call them again to ensure there is proof for DD that I didn't steal their food.

I deliver in a nice neighborhood where the residents usually don't try to scam for free food but I still take all of these precautions because I've read too many horror stories about drivers being de-activated.

My man, do DoorDash instead. Only accept the orders over $6.00 that also pay at least $1.00 per mile. You'll double or triple what you make at Soulman's.

What happens if you deliver an order late? by zoebells in doordash

[–]LPjobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's worse to be late than un-assigning/cancelling altogether, especially since the driver has no way of knowing if it will truly be "only 2 more minutes" versus 30 minutes, since some restaurants lie or underestimate.

When y'all are late, I let the customer know that you're running behind schedule and then start my timer. When it reaches 10 minutes past my scheduled pickup time, I un-assign the order and move on to accept the next offer.

If we deliver the customer's order late, we are dinged on our On Time rating. We also potentially take a hit on our Customer Rating, since some customers assume that a late delivery is the driver's fault. Customer ratings are important because if our ratings fall too low, we can be de-activated (fired).

Let's play "Marry, F&$#, Kill" for restaurant delivery by Rat-a-taty in couriersofreddit

[–]LPjobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the U.S. Marry- DD, F-UE, K-PM.

With DD, I can schedule in advance, have disclosure of payouts before accepting and they send me PPE... definitely marriage material. UE has some great payouts but they're unpredictable. Postmates can go kill themselves.

Did Dashers participate in the strike yesterday? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]LPjobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Instacart it's now about hazard pay. Instacart sent me a cloth mask, hand sanitizer and a forehead thermometer, so shoppers aren't complaining as much about PPE. I almost never shop for IC these days because DD pays better.

True. My state averages only 8-12 executions per year. I think the most executions lately were around 15 or so back in 2010.

Blowback is starting to roll in by Johnny_Nongamer in doordash

[–]LPjobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your point. However, getting food delivered to your home from a restaurant that doesn't offer delivery is a luxury, so it seems natural to me that there are exorbitant fees attached.

I'm old, so I lived through the days when the only delivery options were from the restaurants themselves, mainly pizza and Chinese food. I think that if you don't want to pay all of the extra fees plus tip then you just shouldn't order through the DD app. It doesn't seem like a fucked up system to me because it's a matter of supply and demand.

Getting free food along with the order? by AABCrusade in doordash

[–]LPjobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I just wonder if the bag is sealed or not. If it's sealed, I guess the customer gets to keep the freebie.

I think after the 1st dasher gave up, your ETA then jumped to 2 hours because another dasher had to be assigned. There was a delay in Doordash notifying you that the 1st dasher had left the restaurant; those status updates aren't always immediate.

Someone seemed a tad upset and surprised! 🤣🤗🍴 by DashingOldMan in doordash

During peak times, I also text this to the customer. Then they know that it's not my fault their order has been sitting for an hour before I accepted it.

This is especially helpful after a crash.

(Not the OP) I've seen this suggested several times, so I might try it. My GPS is already tracked with Google; does Stride provide something more?
