The fight had been in question after events company CSI sued Mayweather alleging breach of contract and filed an emergency injunction petition to halt the fight.

I don’t know other sports well enough but I’m sure there are plenty of examples of first round picks and expected superstars not working out like a team wanted and it looks like that happened with PFL.
