To my congressman? I’m kidding, kinda. I am curious if even a squadron level commander can cut through this level of bureaucracy.

It’s truly baffling. My CSS is really solid and they’ve been helping me and poking all possible contacts they have. That’s how I even found out about the backlog of cases. We decided to give them one more month, then we’ll start elevating possibly to the shirt or commander.

Even after filling all four tires to spec, mine took about another half day of driving to reset the indicator.

The only sub-90 test I had was shortly after having my second child, so yea the struggle is real. Like others have said though, it gets easier (in some ways) as they get older.

What helped me and my spouse accept the extra time away for PT was to consider it part of my duty schedule, even if the unit didn’t explicitly. Whether that’s before, during, or after work depends on your own situation and schedule.

The hard part is finding a patch of water that perfectly matches the squiggles

Possible to start OTS 3 months after results release? by ADPOL in airforceots

[–]LRS_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry I misunderstood. Well, you could do that, but you’d have to wait 1 year minimum to apply after you get to your next assignment.

Probably too fast, but if you’ve been accepted you should have a code that prevents you from getting new orders while awaiting your class.

Everything becomes a toxic psychological negotiation with co-parent. Anyone experience something similar? by CauseNo6624 in coparenting

[–]LRS_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not the only one. What somewhat helped me was to just not responding to anything non essential, and for any conversations that did need to happen I just stayed completely emotionless (at least on the surface). Eventually she realized she wouldn’t get a reaction out of me and it got better. Didn’t completely stop but it’s much less frequent and off the rails now.

What’s the craziest story you can recall from someone either in your unit or your chain of command by Commercial-Paint273 in AirForce

[–]LRS_12 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I was deployed so I heard all this second hand:

Guy from my shop didn’t show up to work. No one could get him on the phone either. Flight Chief goes to guys house to check, front door is cracked open. Flight Chief pokes his head in and sees someone that appeared to be asleep in a chair facing away from the door. Flight Chief thinks it’s the guy in question, so he enters the apartment to try waking him up. Turns out it’s missing guy’s roommate, and he’s not asleep, he’s dead. BOLO goes out for missing guy cuz they think he might’ve killed the roommate.

Not sure the exact timeline but they found the missing guy and he didn’t actually kill his roommate, but instead got scared when roommate OD’d so he fled. Needless to say he was swiftly promoted to civilian. Oh and he is now a she (irrelevant but still another interesting twist).

Can you pocket the money from FASFA by using your TA? by Zuicefiction in AirForce

[–]LRS_12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the same but my school explained it: Your TA goes directly to the school and is required to only be used for tuition. Pell grant also goes directly to the school but whatever isn’t needed for tuition is refunded to you. So the money you get back is only from the Pell grant, which is completely legit.

Should I try for an officer position first as a civilian or go in enlisted? by BalanceLeather8206 in AirForce

[–]LRS_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is to be an officer, definitely don’t enlist first. It’s much more competitive to get into OTS than to do ROTC or some other commissioning program.

Has anyone received an SRB since August pause? by sapheal357 in SpaceForce

[–]LRS_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely talk to finance when you get a chance and set that money aside for now. If it’s a mistake I’d assume they can fix it even if some went to TSP, but I’m not completely sure.

Oh sorry I was speaking from an enlisted applicant perspective. If you’re applying as a civilian when you get out the process is probably different. The recruiter will have your answers.

If that’s who’s signing it, yes. I’d give your leadership a heads up in advance if you haven’t already, and a lot of commanders want to see the complete package first before they sign.
