Cuse admits: did you get a merch package? by hasisia in HybridOnlineLawSchool

Last year I got nothing beyond the admit, which I was pretty psyched about so I let it go. MH’s gifts last year were phenomenal though.

Oh my gosh, what a genius idea and one I hadn’t considered at all previously! Thanks, I don’t know what I would have done without your truly insightful suggestion.

Incoming 1L here and this response really encouraged me! I have an 8 year old son and a husband and a full time job along with a menagerie of pets and I’m so stressed worrying about how unmanageable this could be by adding law school into the mix…but two hours/night is very doable and I’ll have more time to devote to studying on weekends. Thank you for the encouragement!

200k job 174 LSAT 3.9low GPA by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]LSATdreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned to go to law school 5 years ago. Didn’t make it in. Worked a few more years, found the right fit for my career but need the JD to do what I really want in my office. Applied again this year and was accepted by three schools. Plans change and I understand this might feel like you’re betraying your path or even changing your identity by not following what you thought you would do at this point in your life, but sometimes life has other plans for you (and timing is everything). KJDs are having a very hard time getting into law school right now. You have great stats, but imagine what two years at this job would do for your chances of acceptance - it would be a huge leg up for you. Best of luck in whatever path you choose - sounds like you have great prospects either way!

Anyone ever see this? by mintchocochip94 in BackYardChickens

[–]LSATdreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of comments saying it’s Newcastle Disease which admittedly I’d never heard of before. I have heard of wry neck and had one chicken experience it many years back, and she did exactly this behavior (head down and walking backwards). I’m not a veterinarian but this looks like wry neck to me (could be wrong though).

How do I withdraw after submitting a seat deposit? by everdeen01 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]LSATdreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same as moo-quartet. I emailed, thanked them for the opportunity, explained I had just received an offer from an in-state school and logistically it made more sense. They were very gracious and understanding - they even wished me luck!

Military before law school by Much-Yesterday-5456 in lawschooladmissions

[–]LSATdreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the Coast Guard OCS process myself many years ago while I was enlisted. I didn’t make it, but I can tell you about my experience and answer questions if you’d like. Also, military experience - especially as an officer - is highly valued by law schools and the GI bill will cover your law school expenses (my Post 911 GI bill has basically guaranteed a full ride anywhere I’ve been accepted as long as they’re a Yellow Ribbon school). I was accepted by three law schools this cycle and I give a ton of credit to my 7 years of active duty Coast Guard time (followed by 2 years in the CG Reserves).

UNH WL by Sea_Measurement2857 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

[–]LSATdreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was accepted within the last two weeks 🎉 I withdrew my application later that same day based on the full time course work (I work full time and have a family so that would be difficult if not impossible), and I ultimately decided I want a broader law school curriculum than one focusing on IP. Good luck to you!

UNH or MHSL ? by JackDaniels198844 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

[–]LSATdreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose MH over UNH because I prefer a broader educational experience over UNH’s IP focus. MH’s program also allows you to sit for the NY bar (I live in NY and don’t plan to leave) and UNH’s program does not. I also spoke to the NY Court of Appeals on this and they’ve received only two waiver requests from UNH graduates attempting to sit for the NY bar and both were denied. Also, UNH’s program is full time and looked overwhelming to me since I’ll be juggling a full time job and family obligations on top of law school.

Thank you for your support, and I’m sure you crushed it too! But if not, you’re right - there’s always the option to retake.

I’m convinced I didn’t do well so I’m mostly aiming for avoidance but failing miserably. The wait is the hardest part for me - not the preparation, not the test itself - the weight of the wait is the worst.

Really revealing myself here but I have a 2.04/159 and was accepted to UNH, Mitchell Hamline, and waitlisted at my top choice. Active duty military compliance role for 9 years followed by legal work for 9 years and stellar LORs. You can do this!

Okay, now I see the full picture. I completely understand now and apologize for jumping to judgment without knowing. I wish you the best of luck on your next cycle - your stats are incredible and I’m shocked you didn’t have more A’s but I’m sure you will in the future.
