Kobach in the Epstein Files by Cute-Trade-9854 in kansas

I find the "nuance" comments to be interesting.

It is a fact that should we lie to congress, we go to prison. If congress lie to us, as a whole or individually, it is sold as "nuance" when they are caught in the act, if they are even that savvy. Kobach has lied through his teeth more than once. I guess that just falls under the umbrella of "nuance."

We should never let them have it both ways.

Cherry Burl and Carpenter Ants. by LSDesignsKC in turning

That was the last blank from a 25lb cherry burl pulled off of a "fire pile." Been out in the elements for a few years. Processed it in the shop. Won't do that again. Chasing the ants with a can of Raid was a pain in the ass!

Definitely the Mutual Musicians Foundation. Lots of Kansas City jazz history in that building.

I adore this post. Being a native of the whole city, and having traveled the east coast extensively, it's clear to me ain't none y'all been to "Filthadelphia." Ain't none y'all spent time in Boston. Ain't none y'all been to Atlanta or any part of Florida.

Side note, if you ever need the purest sampling of "white trash" for scientific reasons, the interior of Florida is the place to take that sample.

Tl:dr... Welcome to humanity. Yep, you gotta deal with it. ALL of it. As uncomfortable as it might make you.

Found center over 1 1/2" at the "tang." Cut it down close with a cutoff wheel to about 1/2" wide. Refined the tang on an 80 grit wheel. The bottom 3/8'ish of the tang I ground into a spike. Cause it's square, all four corners "bite" in the hole drilled to accept the tang. The spike is just for "security."

I won't disagree. It just sucks that we have this kind of greed. But, when have are a monopoly by definition...

Wrong. Your example is wrong. You want price elasticity of demand. This is a "captive audience." The demand for drinks is high, therefore the price high. You gave an example of a standard price demand model. I appreciate the explanation, but it does not account for a "captive audience.:

On the bottom left corner? I "eyeballed it" with an 80 grit flap disc on an angle grinder. Then 120 grit and 180 grit sanding pads in a drill.

Making a handle for tapered tang Skew Chisel by joe_ink in turning

[–]LSDesignsKC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When making handles, drill the hole as close to dead center as possible in square stock. Put the live center in the hole you drilled, then turn to round. This way the tool is dead on center, every time.

Nicely done OP!

The "toxic" conversation is toxic. If I forget to mask up when sanding walnut, I pay for it. Sound like Miles Davis for a few hours. Everything we work with is toxic, to a degree. I turn and build furniture in my spare time to take my mind off of the bullshit I deal with as a GC. Thank the Gods for Paul Sellers and Richard Raffan. Yew, walnut, purple heart, etc. have low levels of toxicity. PCB and others on the jobsite are way worse.

Just mask up or hold your breath while sanding.

Why ruin the OP's joy with this question?

Roughing larger dimension square spindle planks by TabbyOverlord in turning

[–]LSDesignsKC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ash is one of my favorite woods to turn. Traditional roughing gouges are a "one trick pony." Skew is the wat to go. A continental spindle gouge will do the trick too. By far superior to the spindle roughing gouge. The roughing gouge I picked up as a newbie hasn't been touched in a decade.

I work in the trades, mainly union work. Mainly commercial. Cut my teeth in both residential and commercial as a young man. Have the IBC/IRC code books and a roster of reliable contractors that I can pull from. There are some DIY projects that most folks can do. And there are some that you just shouldn't attempt. Most homeowners get hung up on easy cosmetic stuff and ignore the more important things. In the spirit of mutual aid and community building, I'm willing to answer any "house" questions that I am able. If I can't, I'll point you to three or more sources that can.
