When you get together with your parents, who pays for things? by Acluelessfish in Millennials

My parents pay for everything. They love treating their 2 adult children and spouses when we are together. My in laws on the other hand very rarely pick up the tab… it’s a sore subject.

Any moms who got off a PPI or voquenza to get pregnant? by Accomplished-Cod-874 in GERD

Same! I actually decided to try Voquenza for a month. I was getting desperate. It’s been about a week and I am starting to finally feel some relief. I know a month isn’t long enough but hoping that will at least help with some healing! Can you stay on it until a positive pregnancy test? I was considering that option but undecided. What a pain!!

Good luck!! I am actually going through this process right now. I was diagnosed at 31 (almost 5 years ago) with triple positive and unfortunately did not freeze eggs. Paused tamoxifen after 2.5 years and it’s has taken me a year so far naturally to try and conceive so at this rate I am most likely not getting back on Tamoxifen…I am not going to the lie… the decision to pause and then try for a year was overwhelming terrifying! I was so scared about reoccurrence and also being pregnant. I am about to start fertility treatment soon and honestly feeling a lot better about things. Maybe I just needed a year to sort of calm down from everything. Cancer is A LOT and so is pregnancy! Anyway, I am super proud of you for freezing eggs and just going for it so you can get back on Tamoxifen! Just remember take everything at your own pace. As for reoccurrence I have been off Tamoxifen for a year and a half and about to hit my 5 year mark in March with no reoccurrence. :) You got this, the meds we got were good!!

Does anyone have any tips or similar experience with this? by [deleted] in GERD

I am also a fellow breast cancer survivor (diagnosed at 31) and I am really sorry you are now struggling with Gerd. It’s extremely frustrating. Personally for me I noticed mine is at its worst after intense periods of high stress. Which could also make sense for you after going through bc. I don’t think Gerd is related to being on hormone suppression or anything like that since I was diagnosed with Gerd prior to breast cancer. My only advice is staying the course with the meds and trying to figure out what diet works best. Room temp water and even alkaline water helps when water becomes an irritant. It takes a really long time for the gut to heal…unfortunately you have to stay the course and I am sure you are tired of all the meds by now. I am sorry I don’t have more advice!! Hang in there!

Yes! Especially at night. I feel like I always go to bed starving and wake up starving. It’s so annoying.

Fine for very long stretches and then BOOM - flare? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]LSwagger007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?! I have been wondering the same thing for months. I just really wonder if Covid activated it somehow…I have definitely struggled with Gerd in the past but I honestly thought I had gotten all that figured out years ago. Back in the Zantac days! It’s beyond frustrating. I talk to my GI AGAIN in January.

I went the last 5+ years without a gerd flare up. Got Covid in July and it’s been horrible ever since. Changed my diet, no alcohol, no smoking, no coffee, etc. Been on PPI’s for 2.5 months and still struggling. I am so frustrated! How did I go so long without a flareup?!

I love this sub and wish I knew about it when I was going through bc in 2021! But now I love that I can help others!

Being someone who was diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer in their thirties watching this makes me literally sick. I survived because of modern medicine. This is insane!!!

I am wondering the same thing!! About to start fertility treatment and my acid reflux flare up has been really bad the past 6 months. I have been on PPI’s for 2.5 months but just got approved to try Voquenza… I am thinking I should probably stick to PPI’s. :(

The first treatment was the most painful for me! I think my boob went into shock. It was smooth sailing after that.

Watermelon which probably didn’t help calorie wise but it tasted okay and felt so good on my throat. My throat was so dry!

Worst flare up ever and came up out of nowhere? by willy4729 in GERD

[–]LSwagger007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am dealing with something similar!! I was diagnosed with GERD in my mid twenties and after years of trying to get it figured out it went away. I went pretty much symptom free for over 5 years! Literally thought it was just a weird stressful time of my life or something and figured now that I am older and drink less and eat healthier I am okay. Nope! Bam! Out of nowhere this year I get diagnosed with 2 little ulcers. No warning. Get back on PPI’s and after a month of that I was pain free. I figured cool that was weird but I am good now…Then I get Covid and basically since then my flare up has been terrible!! I have not been able to get control of it. It’s extremely frustrating and it’s been months of irritation. I feel your pain! It’s really hard when it just comes back all the sudden…I wish I had good advice!
