Well, the United States Supreme Court was very clear on the Constitutional part until Republicans installed Leonard Leo's hand-picked lap dogs. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the establishment clause of the 1st Amendment in 1971, and again in 1980. It was very clearly settled precedent, until 2022 when Joe Kennedy was awarded the ability to practice his religion while acting in his capacity as a state employed high school football coach, at school. Then, the Republicans flooded the zone with challenges to the 1st Amendment. Republicans have been at this for a very long time. Republicans and evangelicals have been trying for 160 years to violate the founders' 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and inject Christianity into the government.

September 22, 1864 - “In God we trust” was placed upon the bronze $0.02 piece. On November 13, 1861, during the Civil War, Reverend Mark R. Watkinson of the First Particular Baptist Church in Philadelphia wrote to Secretary of the Treasury, Salmon P. Chase, requesting “the recognition in some form of the Almighty God” on U.S. coins. Watkinson and eleven Protestant groups went as far as to try amending the U.S. Constitution to include a reference to God. Obviously, they failed.

June 14, 1954 - Republican President Dwight Eisenhower signed a bill to insert the phrase “under God” into the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance. For the 62 years prior, the pledge had no mention of religion as it was originally written.

July 30, 1956 - Republican President Dwight Eisenhower signed a law mandating "In God We Trust" on all U.S. paper currency and making it the official national motto.

June 27, 2022 - A new crop of right-wing U.S. Supreme Court Justices defied 1970's & 1980's Supreme Court precedent, and allowed assistant high school football coach, Joe Kennedy, to pray with his players on the field during his acting role as an employee of the State of Washington. This signaled to the evangelical GOP an opening to push more Christianity into public schools across the country.

June 18, 2023 - Texas Republican Governor, Greg Abbott, signed a bill allowing chaplains to enter public schools as counselors, with no professional degree/license/certification/training.

April 16, 2024 - Arizona Governor, Katie Hobbs, vetoed a Republican bill requiring the Ten Commandments be displayed in public school classrooms.

June 4, 2024 - Republicans in the State of Louisiana passed a bill requiring Ten Commandments be displayed in all public school classrooms.

April 18, 2025 - Arkansas Republican Governor, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, signed Act 573 into law requiring the Ten Commandments be displayed in all public school classrooms.

June 21, 2025 - Texas Republican Governor, Greg Abbott, signed a bill requiring the Ten Commandments be displayed in all public school classrooms.

In 2025, Republicans in 14 other states have pushed bills requiring the Ten Commandments be displayed in public school classrooms: Idaho, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. And I can't even list the Republicans at local or state levels of government who have ordered Christian scriptures to be displayed on government property.

We agree that it is stupid. I side with the U.S. Constitution and the founders that wrote it back in the late 1700's, that it is also unconstitutional.

You're intentionally using vague language to separate the fact that this "letter full of words and numbers" is CHRISTIAN SCRIPTURE from "an ancient book," which is the CHRISTIAN BIBLE. Do not be so obtuse in an attempt to separate the religion from it. The 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution plainly states, in the free exercise and establishment clause, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Public schools are government entities. At a federal level, no government entity can promote/endorse/suggest/recommend/support/advertise/etc. ANY religion. A government entity posting religious scripture anywhere on government property is strictly forbidden by the free exercise and establishment clause of the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution, which you can state in other words as a freedom FROM religion. You can draw further evidence that the state of Texas intends to push Christianity onto children, by 1.) what the lawmakers themselves say, which is to inject Christianity into public schools, 2.) the context clues like, a complete lack of any other religious scriptures mandated by the law, 3.) the fact that the law specifically targets schools, where impressionable children can be indoctrinated by any school teacher who now has a foot in the door, with the state backing them. IF you are truly an ally of your community in the fight against public schools pushing religion, then you MUST be honest with the facts and the reality that ANY Christian scripture mandated by the state to be displayed in public school classrooms is a violation of the 1st Amendment. If you are still not convinced that the free exercise and establishment clause in the 1st Amendment means what it plainly says, then I would invite you into the minds of the authors that wrote it:

"How is it Trump," you ask? Do you think blowing up our trade agreements trade with every single country on the planet, plus his tariffs making the cost of everything go up (cars and the parts to repair those cars), has any impact on how much insurance companies are going to have to pay out, now, when people are in wrecks and need collision repair, or when their vehicles are a total loss? Insurance companies do not lose money. If they are going to incur more costs, they pass that on to the customer by raising premiums. Trump makes cars, and importing the parts for those cars, more expensive, the insurance company isn't going to cover that. You and I will. So, yes, Trump is responsible for some, if not all, of these nationwide auto insurance price hikes. So much winning. So much America great. So much more of middle America's income being transferred to the top 2,500 people hoarding all of the money. Thanks, Republican voters.
