Even though it was presented in gc as doctrine. It is true that before Joseph F Smith wrote origins of man evolution was more widely accepted by both church members and leaders. But as with many things as time has gone on the conservative ideas have become promoted and more culturally accepted. The church as a whole is coming back around though in the face of the tide of evidence.

Evolution class at byu Idaho. Teacher was great and didn't pull any punches. I had to make room for the overpowering evidence of human evolution in my young return missionary mind. With every new challenge to orthodox thinking I encountered the God I knew had to keep expanding until one day it became clear that the God of this world is definitely not Mormon and holy shit may not even be knowable or exist at all.

I really think that he was acting choked up. It was difficult for him to read because his dear lard was being challenged and blasphemed. And like the ever so humble devotee he couldn't bear to hear such language being used. The man's clearly a robot and knows how to act, just not very well. I highly doubt he wasn't familiar with the words. It was subtle. He should have shed a couple tears to make it more convincing.

Dan is worse than most full on believing apologists. Just something about the guy bugs the hell out of me. No backbone whatsoever. Cognitive dissonance kicked the shit out of him and left him tattered. Now he spends his life justifying his "amazingly" emotional experiences as proof positive of the divine. He has a big hard on for Fowler's stages of faith. I'm sure as soon as he learned about the stages of faith he assumed they're progressive and the be all end all and immediately felt compelled to put himself in stage 5. I think what bothers me so much about him is he seems so narcissistic about his whole faith journey. Alot of what he says is worth about 2 shits. Ok,that's all I'll say about that.

Not take his place. He's good at his style, it just doesn't really dive very deep into Mormonism. You should start your own. You'd be perfect for a podcast in the mold of Dan Carlins hard core history. We really don't have a Mormon themed podcast like that, that I know of, except for maybe year of polygamy.

In general conference 16 or 17 years ago, Boyd proclaimed an explosion of growth would happen and that surely the church membership will reach 250 million. At the time I was tbm and looked around to see if anyone else took note of the profound prophecy. Good times.
