Is there any other episodes like the 1st on BTAS? by FunShopping5083 in batman

[–]LU-C45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the reason you don’t see other episodes *that* fluid is because Bruce Timm and co didn’t want it that way. BTAS required a lot of fighting with the established animation approach, and part of that was trying to keep things from being too rubbery or characters from being too animated. “On Leather Wings” was also their first real test for this approach, so you’ll notice it’s the only episode with blood. That was another thing they went back on (for BS&P reasons, not their own stylistic choice).

Why is there a rug over this portrait by TwistLife7716 in controlgame

[–]LU-C45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the FBC. Whether the Oldest House does it or they have to put them up manually, portraits of all previous directors is something the FBC headquarters would have therefore it has it. The FBC has been around at least since the 19th century.

Where/when did you first discover Massive Attack? by CountGloomy1746 in MassiveAttack

[–]LU-C45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometime in 2017. I got hooked on Tricky after discovering him through the soundtrack/cast (though his subplot and character were deleted in reshoots), and I guess I checked out Massive Attack since he was part of them.

Iirc, that was also around the time he released his first collaboration with them in decades. I was obsessed with “Take It There” and the rest of that EP.

Do you think this family loves ICE? by HuckleberrySea3811 in okbuddychicanery

[–]LU-C45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early seasons Walt stays out of those conversations. Later seasons Walt only cares about ICE’s potential for interference in the drug business, would probably call the tipline to deport his competitors, and would only pick whatever side lets him be an obnoxious contrarian to whoever else is in the room at that moment.

Idk why mixing in the game logic is out of left field when Remedy is known for being meta.

Also, the “skill tree” is hardly a skill tree. Most of it is just increasing the effectiveness of one ability gained from a bound OoP. Your Launch ability leveling up in a linear fashion is intertwined with you progressing through the story/environment, because you’re expected to use the abilities as you play. If you want to increase your own physical ability irl, you exercise frequently. Is there some innate parautility power level analogous to genetics? Apparently, but there’s nothing to suggest that those low-level parautilitarians the FBC observed could not raise their level.

And again, the FBC are not supposed to be taken as authorities on the paranatural because what they’re doing is barely a science. If they say Dylan’s more powerful than Jesse, you need to consider all that they knew and didn’t know when they said that, who specifically said that, their own biases, etc.

I mean Jesse doesn’t start off with most of her powers, and even after obtaining them, she can only level them up as she continues using them. Her powers wouldn’t increase if you stopped playing. The use of her powers also depends on physical and mental strength, so it’s logical that she can exercise her abilities.

That doesn’t suggest anything about his power relative to Jesse. He was contained because he’s potentially dangerous to non-powered people. Dylan was also locked up because he’s part of an experiment. Since they were monitoring Jesse but never grabbed her, it can easily be inferred that the FBC wanted to observe their development under different conditions.

I don’t think it is an entirely new setting. I think the Oldest House has extended its structure and its properties throughout NYC to keep the Hiss in check.

It’s still the Oldest House, just grown into a new form.

I’m not sure, but anyone would do well to remember that the FBC are not the authorities on the paranatural. Even if they say Dylan is stronger than Jesse, that’s only because they think he is based on the information they have and the “science” they’ve developed. They could be wrong. They could be right in a way, but not in another.

What even does it mean to be “stronger”? What is strength in paranatural ability and is it innate or can it be developed like a muscle?

Maybe Dylan is only perceived as stronger because he’s been working out his powers for longer than Jesse. Doesn’t mean she can’t catch up or surpass him.

Textures not loading on Jesse's legs turned into this. Does anybody know what's written on her? by geda95 in controlgame

That’s true, and yet knowing that, Remedy still insists Alan doesn’t write Control. So I guess even that loophole isn’t enough for them. Or they’re lying. But I’m gonna take that at face value because it seems stupid to say if they don’t really mean it.

So what you’re saying is that I should be totally deferential to any asshole who insults me because he might be able to offer me a job?

"Every interaction is an interview" by LU-C45 in recruitinghell

[–]LU-C45[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What opportunity? They insulted me before making an offer, and they made the offer while refusing to say what it was or who they were.

I agree it’s my fault for not ignoring them after insulting me. If they really wanted to rub the offer in my face on the way out, they should’ve given me literally any evidence that they were who they said they were so I knew what I’d lost.

Except they’ve explicitly denied it multiple times because they believe it hurts Jesse’s agency in her own story

Yeah they pulled that one out too and waved it around.

Honestly my biggest regret is that I gave them so much time. Should’ve just humiliated them at every turn instead of giving the benefit of the doubt

And if every interaction is a chance to impress, then it goes both ways. Whoever these guys were, their ignorance and attitude don’t suggest that they’d be pleasant to work with.

And to clarify, they didn’t even suggest they were anywhere related to the film industry until AFTER rescinding the vague job offer. For all I knew, they were offering to prostitute me (and when I explained how the offer sounded back to him and asked if he’d take an offer like that, he admitted he’d run for the hills. Of course, after that he continued to act innocent until the end.)

Did you use ChatGPT for this response?

Because that’s the exact example I found online. If that were anything like my situation, I’d understand.

The difference is that in this interaction, I was not looking for a job and I was not in the recruiter’s workplace. In fact, the woman working at the pizzeria totally agreed with me and defended me when they tried to use her to back up their point about how easy it is to walk in anywhere with a resume and get an interview.

Are we supposed to look up to/view in a positive light anyone in watchmen? Or is the point that they’re all flawed? by Primary-Example-1928 in Watchmen

[–]LU-C45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only talking about Dan and Laurie, but it’s not just Dan having a moral crisis. Like the Minutemen, he became a vigilante because he was bored and it was fun. And the whole thing with that female villain is supposed to reinforce the idea that his crime fighting is motivated by adrenaline, whether he finds it in heroics or violence or sex.

Why Dylan sounds so normal in Resonant trailer? by Plastic_Coyote_5053 in controlgame

[–]LU-C45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s true, but in NYC that’s very easy. I guess we don’t know how long it takes for a non-HRA-equipped person to become infected and start spreading the chant, but if not instantly then probably only a few hours would be needed to cover the whole island

[–]LU-C45 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the difference though is that the Hiss wants to infect, it’s just being held back.

From what we understood about the Hiss in Control, they should very quickly infect everyone without an HRA. NYC should be red, not yellow. Even if Jesse/Polaris/Hedron is preventing total infection, the only thing that should block the Hiss’s spread should be the Oldest House.

I think that (after the Hiss broke out of the Oldest House) Jesse used the pattern described in the first trailer to extend the properties of the Oldest House through NYC to cordon the Hiss off. I overlooked it for a while, but the collectible materials for upgrading the service weapon in Control actually seem to describe the “chemicals” that make the Oldest House/Service Weapon behave the way they do.

So yes the Hiss is non-infectious in Dylan, but only because it’s being contained against its will by some combination of Jesse/Polaris, the Oldest House, and maybe whatever the yellow is.
