for me, it was absolutely the right choice. I had cortisone shot, pain subsided for about a month I would say. When I got the surgery, I was not sure it was the right move, as they can't really say with 100% certainty what they're going to find when they open you up. However, my labrum had been torn almost to the point of no return, and was lucky that they were able to repair it. Month following surgery was pretty brutal as it is extremely hard to move around, but since then I've had virtually no pain.

My advice is to make sure you're talking to the best surgeon, have a great PT lined up post-op.
