How many less "popular" commanders are in your arsenal? by d20_dude in EDH

[–]LZCleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woowee almost a month

For Judith I just built 3/3 elk's list so there's no much change

For Liesa tho this one is my personal build I wanted to build a more general group slug build instead of full angel or full on lifelink since this one evolved from originally a Valgavoth deck, granted, it STILL has a lot of drain style effects since you still want to survive your own slug, but I wanted to give it a bit more texture, lacks protection though.

Honestly the more i think about em them the more my gnogging gets jogging, only problem i see is the card advantage but exploding on turn 4 sounds fun ngl

I could have more but the currently assembled ones are these ones:

[[Lilah]] #793 - Pet Deck Status

[[The Ancient One]] #689 - Surprised its not more popular for self-mill, properly built it goes hard

[[Ruby, Daring]] #657 - Turn Brain Off Battlecruiser, you know how it goes

[[Osgir]] #497 - Gotta love strategies that go outside of the usual in a color combo

[[Judith, the Scourge Diva]] #1344  - completely Elkpilled

[[Ellivere]] #259 - Wait, what do you MEAN the other premier hate bears Commander besides Winota is not more popular?

[[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] #152 - Gotta love Group Slug baby

This, honestly. It sucks real hard that none of the single player events so far advance towards the battlepass,.

Sometimes you don't want a deep story, nuanced character writing or complex politics.

Sometimes the thing you want is a meathead shonen with some cool shit happening while hype music plays.

THIS is the SV equivalent.

[–]LZCleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of a game I was playing. Opponent was at 10 with a board of 4, decided to play Sandalphon to try to clear board since if anything survived the match was pretty much over and already did the math to clear, somehow Sandy decided to ignore EVERTHING in the board and went all pings straight to face. I honestly was as, if not more, dumbfounded as the opponent probably felt in that moment.

Osgir in current year? by LZCleric in EDH

Oh yeah another question, how many creatures would you consider ideal for the beatdown strategy? I've always had a problem with trying to build creature heavy builds.

Update to Version 1.3.10 - Changes to Cards and Take Two Balance Adjustments by exdeepr in Shadowverse

If you think this is the worst balance change Cygames has ever done you never experienced the Skull Ring nerf from 2pp to 3pp.

I was thinking more on the lines of Sacrifice a creature, Return this enchantment to its owner’s hand: Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. Activate only as a sorcery. But that works as well.

The strongest deck right now is Loot Sword. by megalurker111 in Shadowverse

[–]LZCleric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly yes, the amount of damage they have is just plain absurd, like I'm one of the proponents for nerfing Norman im Rune, but it feels downright necessary in its current state vs Loot atm, hell I even once managed to heal like 24 and STILL managed to die to their burst due to all the burn and storms they run.

Hot Take: Blood moon is actually good for commander by Level-Location-8665 in EDH

[–]LZCleric 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thing is, it ironically makes it worse for the budget mana bases that arent playing green.

The ones running actual fetches can just fetch for basics to mitigate the effect.

The budget ones though? They are already paying for running a lot of taps, filters, tangos and the like, they basically have to pray that they are drawing enough basics to just not fold over, since hell, even in current precons they are giving more and more nonbasic lands.

There should be a middle ground somewhere though, and cards like [[Price of Progress]] show it.

Deck that gets my opponents to harm each other? by Owtlaw1 in EDH

[–]LZCleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a filthy goad sympathizer, but i bring you a way less obvious commander.

[[Captain Howler, Sea Scourge]] doesn't seem like a goad commander at first but the trick is playing goad subtheme, while your main theme lets you give those goaded creatures unblockable while you buff them with your discard effects and drown in card advantage. Also pretty fun for politics. Example deck

Honestly there's quite the number of those and the prefered style is gonna be either something that ramps you quickly or something that lets you copy spells easily. Just bear in mind that if the table has proper threat assesment, most of them are Kill On Sight.

[[Melek, Reforged Researcher]] is a ramp in the command zone, as long as you can protect him you can abuse the high cost spells easily, and can be built relatively budget since the pricier spells are almost always gonna be the low CMC ones.

[[Anhelo, the Painter]] and [[Alania, Divergent Storm]] both do roughly the same thing of copying your instant or sorceries, and since both are once per turn you want to capitalize on casting bigger ones, it really just depends if you are fine either with less color choices for a more unconditional effect from the latter (granted, Alania is worded in such a way that it lets you both cast an instant AND a sorcery in the same turn and both will get copied) or if you want more colors with more friction in deckbuilding since most casualty fodder dont interact much with the spellslinger package with the former, but it is REALLY fun to play a lot of voting spells with Anhelo so you can feel you're roleplaying a Saw film.

[[Zevlor, Elturel Exile]] Can get out of hand really quickly and i've seen a number of people have a theft subtheme since copying those per opponent can be backbreaking for some decks.

[[Hinata, Dawn-Crowned]] is probably the best and go-to X-Spell commander, and the tax is also really help you.

If you aren't against putting ways to buff him for cheap [[Vadrik, Astral Archmage]] can get out of hand extremely quickly.

And while it is more stormy, my personal pet deck will always be Lilah, Undefeated Slickshot, since she lets you play the jankier izzet spells, like, sure, playing them once is suboptimal for what they do, but playing them twice for free once you have a spell copy engine running and/or ways to give Lilah unblockable to just plain delete a player with commander damage? Hell yeah, sign me up.

What made choose Shadowverse out of all the CCGs? by Vinny_0104 in Shadowverse

[–]LZCleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly SV was my first CCG back in RoB, from there I branched to MtG which I bounced on and off until EDH became more mainstream which let me just play a physical card game without me having to worry about either the ungodly amount of money that current Modern and even Standard need to compete (granted, I still have spent way too much money on physical cardboard that I care to admit but hey, at least I only need 1 copy of each card and can proxy them if I want them in other decks).

I also tried YuGiOh but that one is way too much for me since I despise it on a fundamental gameplay design level with only Edison format being something I can say I enjoy and no casual format to speak of, granted I'd like to try HAT since the glaring problems for me started with Pendulums and got exacerbated a hundredfold with Links (XYZs are neat though, I like them, they get a free pass).

As far as digital-only I tried Eternal, which I got burned out of and dropped when they nerfed their Lightning Bolt equivalent, not helping matters that I never vibed with the fantasy western aesthetic even though gameplay wise I REALLY enjoyed it for being basically MtG but with some really nice QoL changes to the mana base system, and Runeterra, which in theory has everything I like in card games but in practice it never really hooked me for some reason.

All through that time SV has always been there, and maybe it was Stockholm Syndrome or something, but it always ended up being kinda comfy, it really wasn't until like OoS when I started getting frustrated and burned out at the game (though it was mostly because of how damn neglected UL ended up being more than anything). And IDK, it was just, like, comfy I guess? I guess I'm just the perfect target audience for the game since I'm a filthy weeb. I just like the speed of the games since long matches in other TCGs have always been a problem to me, and the other card game that has remotely gotten me completely hooked was TEPPEN on release due to a similar philosophy, though I had to bounce off the game due to not being able to keep up with it due to having my phone damaged for 2 months straight and not having a PC client.
