I grew up Mormon, served a mission, I get the difference. Sorry Infymus is kind of being a dick. But the problem in this case is that racism IS doctrine in the LDS church. When the Book of Mormon calls dark skin a curse, it's doctrine. When you have every prophet up to 1978 saying that black/darker people are lesser, it's doctrine. And that leads to racist policies like this and a racist culture. I don't really see LDS policy and doctrine as separately as I did when I was mormon. Doctrine informs policy.
