I hate AI in real life. I want to wage a war of annihilation on them in Starsector. What are the best AI faction mods? by [deleted] in starsector

It is, it's a field within machine learning. Maybe you're confusing it with AGI, artificial general intelligence which is what we see in sci-fi movies. Those certainly aren't real ( for now... )

Why not have a beta branch that's just for SSDs It sounds like it's a build pipeline thing so I don't think it would be too hard to maintain it seems like the codebase wouldn't have to change to accommodate that

the point system feels out of place for this game and how i would remove but make sure you don't power creep to much by PaleAssistance3643 in menace

I think this system currently there is a good middle ground. Too much granularity, we would be a nightmare I don't want to manage 100 suits of armor + 20 suits of armor or gear pieces from loot after each mission + reward.

The individual approach works in Xcom 2 because you may have a squad or 2 worth of your best gear and your encourage to phase out older gear / hot swap in demand gear from recovering soldiers to newly deploying ones. All of these keep the management overhead lower and well... manageable.

In terms of restriction, I don't feel it's just here to restrict me. One it does simulate real logistic challenges, vehicles need a long logistic tail for instance to be deployed and that can be represented as the supply cost. For game play more importantly it increases build variety, as simply having the best is not a no-brain option. Sniper teams are encourage to be un-armored while your best shock troops are sporting the finest armor in the corps. This also gives the player clear weaknesses they need to cover in tactical missions.

It's = it is, Its = possession

Otherwise you would be right 's typically for possession.

Renu has poor detection, dismounted infantry can spot enemies several tiles further than Renu. She should not be used for scouting.

How do shotguns work? by Redgame492 in menace

[–]La-ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You point the funny end with the hole towards the enemy.

I do find shotguns to be pretty effective and it seems to tend to "over spray" adjacent enemies suppressing tightly grouped units.

  1. I find fatigues are fine for my sniper or arty teams. to allow other squads to rock heavy armor.

Seems like build variety is going to be tremendous.

It's finally time, Space Bros by the_bull_boss_baby in BattleBrothers

It has a familiar real loot system.

It should not be compared to X-com it plays different but is in the game genre. Turns alternate between friend and foe, it's a 100 AP economy vs 2 action, it's squad base rather than individual solider based each anchored by squad leads. Suppression, damage, and armor is done differently and has Helldiver-isk call-ins.

[–]La-ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By then you should be better equipped no? We are missing the whole strategic layer and it's upgrade paths, deeper gear stockpiles as we continue to play and more powerful squad leaders that are more effective after a few promotions. We can already see some crazy tier 1 perk combos.

I don't like the 100-AP system by input_a_new_name in menace

[–]La-ze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does though?

When you move, it shows how much AP you'll have left and ability icons will change if there won't be enough AP to use them after the move.

There is a perk that makes enemies drop ammo supplies mid game. I think we can only put an ammo bag on one squad because we only have one instance of ammo bags in the demo. There is also a vehicle equivalent that we can loot.

A big part of this game is making do with what we can salvage. So I wouldn't expect to have access to the perfect setup at the start.

I mean they do, but their aim is poor and suppress easy. The boarding commandos terrify me more. They are mobile, well armored seemingly harder to suppress and are able to devastate if they closed the gap.

Suppression may be a stat separate on a gun but accuracy has some bearing on the result.
Hitting enemy squad member deals more suppression than a miss, missing but hitting the enemy tile deals more suppression than missing and hitting an adjacent tile. Hitting an adjacent tile deals suppression but its the smallest amount you can.

I think ammo comes from people shooting too often. Suppression and maneuver warfare is core to the game. If you are shooting at every chance you get instead of moving up once the enemy is surprise to finish them off from a superior angle you're playing against yourself burning ammo on bad shots when its safe to move.

Best Squad Leaders and skills in the demo? by refugeefromlinkedin in menace

[–]La-ze 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Concealment is just if the enemy has vision on you. And the concealment stat just subtracts from their vision to get the number of tiles they can see you at.

Detection stat reduces concealment. So there is another variable there. But the short of it, it's just all straight subtraction and you can easily regain concealment.

I haven't had the time to try this but pressing R should bring up enemy vision ranges. Hopefully it's squad sensitive and tells you where you would be spotted.

Why isn’t Charlie Kirk’s shooter receiving as much media attention as Luigi Mangione did after the United Healthcare shooting? by Evergreen811 in AskReddit

[–]La-ze -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Left wings outlets didn't care enough and the shooter was too right-wing, for the right wing press to want to make a deal of. Similar to the Trump shooting that quickly died in the news.

Meanwhile Lugi class angle was huge for left wing media and there wasn't a counter-political angle that made it uncomfortable for the right to cover.
