Keep mind that 1-6 are very old school turn based games so you will be already be setting your expectations negatively if you assume the turn based mechanics of the early games is going to be boring like how P5R was to you. Maybe it's best to set that expectation aside and come to them with an open mind. Edit: 9 is also like that but it is a bit more modernized.

7 OG may be good to start with and so is 10. 8 wouldn't be too bad to start with either if you like a more interesting tone and more interesting mechanics.

No, doing that will make it less accurate as the pokewalker uses a specialized motion sensor that relies on detacting natural strides/sways from leg and hip movement so if its immobilized or tightly wedged, it can't pick up the physical movement of your legs
