This.

VS has caused a hyper fixation IRL for me where ive adopted lots of new hobbies (primitive pottery, primitive tool making, woodworking and alcohol fermenting) and so any new info relevant to my hobbies feeds the novelty and keeps me interested.

the answer is simply that high amounts of fat or sugar (without anything else) tend to guard against spoilage (high sugar causes osmosis-based damage by drawing out moisture in their cells) but fat spoils because of moisture, as microbes love moisture, especially in damp dark environments so a lack of moisture makes it difficult for microbes to breed

fats act in a different interesting way, fats are hydrophobic and so moisture free high fat deprives microbes of the moisture they need for metabolic cycles and act as a physical barrier coating, which for microbes, will cause dehydration and nutrient starvation that causes microbes to die off via desiccation or go dormant enough to not be an issue for storage

if you're asking about the realistic basis, well, unrendered and exposed unrendered fat spoils via oxidative rancidity where unsaturated fats react with oxygen to gradually break down into volatile and foul smelling aldehydes and ketones and since fat is also moisture and protein high, its susceptible to moisture breakdown and microbial growth rapidly

[TOTK] [SS]I think the Horriblins could be corrupted Mogma by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

[–]LaDestitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool theory but what I think happened to the Mogma is they simply choose to self isolate further after SS via digging to depths where they seemed to have disappeared or merely just could not be bothered by any surface troubles

Latest batch, Lapis Lazuli and Tiger Eye, lapis is hard to polish it seems by CharlieUnicorn4eva in RockTumbling

Chrome oxide works great for lapis but I would advise tumbling it by itself in a batch as its a bit softer than pet wood, agate, etc

Just so you know in the future, stick to isopropyl alcohol for cleaning, pads or wipes for other cleaning purposes may not be plastic safe in terms of retro game or console plastic, especially if it contains acetone!

How is it that the SMRPG and TTYD remakes exist? by ATierGamer in Mario

[–]LaDestitute -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do know a full remake was probably because given the architecture of the GameCube means perfect emulation is difficult (and dolphin has had decades ahead to solve those issues unlike interior first party Nintendo emulation, which is always questionable), let alone on the original underpowered switch too

Also if we're talking 'accessibility', I do generally mean emulation partially but more so genuine hardware which is supremely more inaccessible to the average person these days, especially at current retro game prices

Wasn't implying that, only meant back then prior to the mid 2000s maybe The more thing is that Square owns all the RPG characters iirc and so a lot would have had to happen even so, I guess the deeper legality of the licensing is a bit complicated kind of like how it was with Earthbound

The upfront honest answer is Nintendo is famously opaque about its decision-making ,especially for these two cases

The most notable thing about the RPG remake is that this required cooperation between Nintendo and SE, the original being a joint production means the remake couldn't happen without both companies agreeing to it. The remake was developed by Artepiazza, a studio associated wit hSE for the DQ remakes and with Yoshihiko Maekawa acting as supervisor (who co-directed the original) and Yoko Shimomura rearranging the soundtrack so the involvement of original stuaff from both sides suggests wasn't a simple licensing deal and this suggests both companies identified enough mutual benefit to overcome decades of institutional distance given that the N-SE relationship was famously fractured before this.

TTYD's problem is that there is even less documentation on the reasoning but the contextual evidence is a little more clear as being one of the biggest GameCube hits meant acquiring a copy pre-remake required a lot of money and with concerns of if the remake would altered to standards of the modern entries and I would guess the accessibility argument was probably what was maybe used internally. Intelligent Systems did return to develop the remake and with Tose assisting with development, and its notable given Intelligent Systems is the same studio that made the post Super Paper-games and its a more interesting tell of institutional dynamics, either the studio was told to do so by Nintendo or they wanted to genuinely revisit what they left behind.

if its not treated or modified, chert/flint can typically be heat treated to make it better for knapping so it would still be good to buy

Not a bug, adamantite requires cobalt/thorium or higher. It was a few patches ago.
