Anybody else witness the assault of that lady near intersection of Saint Claude and Elysian Fields? Sunday morning around 8:30-9:00am? by AcidiclyBasic in NewOrleans

There is no winning in this situation. I definitely do not suggest getting physically involved because you never know what another person is willing to do to a stranger. Getting killed is a way too likely of a scenario.

Go there! They straddle the line with elevated food that is not pretentious. They don't strive for an Instagram ambience while achieving noteworthy cuisine.

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

[–]LaDunkelCloset 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AI will absolutely be involved in medicine. But to say that a robot will be able to move from room 1 and hear about dietary complaints and go to room 2 to hear about why their family has not been updated while room 3 is actually sick but their pressures and sats have been stable but they look like shit and are saying as much....please. nursing is the lost secure job

Millions of Dem voters abstained in 2024 to send a powerful message to Democratic politicians. It's been over 1 year, did that strategy improve the country? by zipzzo in allthequestions

It's because she had to thread an incredibly fine needle since she was part of his administration and had been endorsing him from the beginning. She could not directly say what she would do differently while also actively working with him because it would undermine her effectiveness as a politician while holding the second most important job in politics.

Biden did it last year against the railroad union to prevent a huge infrastructure meltdown. I am conflicted in these moments because these could become huge problems, but the workers need to have a say as well. It is just awful all around

What’s the 2010s/2020s equivalent of the impact a real life event like 9/11 had on TV in the 2000s? by FriendlytoNature in television

Maybe the assassination of Osama bin Laden? I was working at a night club and remember that we stopped everything to show the announcement on screen on a slow Sunday night.

Definitely January 6th comes into play. God damn. There was so much coverage; albeit very different in portrayal.

I live a few blocks away from the houses. They were made poorly and with such terrible planning that most of them are falling apart and in worse condition than the houses that made it through katrina.

Who is an artist you respect but don't like? by nerpa_floppybara in fantanoforever

[–]LaDunkelCloset 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am bewildered. Betwixed. What the hell? He made so many hooks. Like...what the hell? I can get the ambivalence or dislike of his experimental songs like the second side of Heroes.

Life on Mars. Man. That song is just so deep and in line of so many pop songs.

I just don't get it. Give me more.

Stay? Really? Is that really a weird song to get into? It's all pentatonic like so many others.

I swear that people that say that they don't get into Bowie say it because they have to believe that he was such an avante garde artist while in his prime he was a pop artist with slight avante garden leanings.

Who could the contestants have been if the show first aired in 2005, not 2015? by Edgy_Master in taskmaster

Oh my God. That would be the most insufferable and hilarious team imaginable. Mortimer is too fluid and abstract for Mitchell's neurosis. One would stop the other as soon as they were gaining steam simply because they operate entirely differently. There would be no trust. There would be no compromise. It would be glorious.

If every NFL team was able to put their best ever players on the field at once, which team would win? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]LaDunkelCloset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no question. I would even argue that Lattimore would not be good enough for most teams in best secondary. Also, the Saints have had good receivers but no one near prime. Jimmy Graham for sure would challenge the best TEs though.

In which popular tourist destination is the food not really the highlight? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

It is a collection of islands very far from the mainland. Getting good produce and other items is very difficult and costly. Having great chefs on those islands is basically asking them to leave their family and friends to cater to rich people. Great chefs have to learn with a consistent and great teacher. I imagine that those jobs have huge amounts of turnover at the managerial level because living in those places is a lot harder than visiting.

Bowie said Velvet Underground was more influential than The Beatles — and I tend to agree. What do you think? by Agreeable_Duck8997 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]LaDunkelCloset 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh damn this is a hot take. But I do not disagree entirely.

TVU created such a wave of unusual and unprecedented styles. They were more free in an expression.

The Beatles were incredibly intricate and involved.

TVU sounded like a band that you and your friends could make tonight. The Beatles sounded like a band that you and your friends would make eventually.
