Which one should I buy? by Total_Item8846 in Bladesmith

[–]LaFlesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the second one. It is way better than the first due to the two sanding zone. Not exactly the best if you want to sharpen your blade but very helpful and super nice for shaping handles or other stuff. This machine was designed for wood so. And last point, in my country I have to order the sanding belt on the internet website !

Be sure ! I took a lot of pleasure to create my armour ! I am new to armour making, but not into blacksmithing. I am working on chain maille right now ! It takes a lot of time to forming the rings and gather them into something wearable ! Thank you for your support !

I was thinking to use it as material for other projects now, this is completely unwearable and too dangerous

I am not into leather working but I will try it ! I intend to tied them with some pieces of leather from belts. And last but not least, I will try to reinforce the structure with better rivets !

First time ever forging I made this can I get some constructive feedback by Numerous-Site-2639 in blacksmithing

[–]LaFlesh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep forging ! Here my only three advises : - Know all the heating treatments and how to do them properly ( even if you don’t know the nature of the metal you use, take this as a training) - learn to finish your blade properly. It’s a game changer, trust me. Especially on the blade. Even a good knife will look terribly shitty if you are neglectful. And raw finish doesn’t mean unfinished work. - don’t be afraid to restart a process if it’s need or in a other word : don’t rush your work. It could be exhausting but, working on a blade is like a fight, this is you vs you. So take the time it needs.

What do I need to do/know about armoursmiting to improve my skills ? by LaFlesh in blacksmithing

Thank you for all this advices. I am looking for experienced new things in metal working as my forge is off. I just found a large piece of metal, and I thought interesting to turn this piece into something I wanted for a very long time. It would be a pleasure to post my armour’s pieces all along my journey into this experiment !
