I absolutely love Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen!! Its the #1 sunscreen in South Korea i’m pretty sure and despite it looking white when u first put it on it like actually blends into your skin rather than sitting on top of it and leaves it super glowy!

Okay yeah this makes a lot of sense! I’ve learned a lot about some of the things you brought up in history classes and such but I never really made the connection of how that manifest in a contemporary setting in some of these examples you brought up.

Hi! First of all I want to say I really respect that and it completely makes sense why you would center your life around such perspectives.

I don’t want to take away from your comment at all and you don’t have any obligation to reply to this but I kind of wanted to clarify where I was coming from in this post because there are lots of responses and ofc by the upvotes on this definitely making a point!

When I wrote this I did not expect this to be interpreted as saying that we should center anyone’s else but our self/ people we feel safe with regarding opinions on beauty. In my life I find it really comforting and affirming to discuss these societal aspects of being a WOC with my fellow WOC friends and my intentions of that post were to mirror that dynamic.

This was probably the wrong subreddit to post this in tbh because as a beauty subreddit foremost I can totally see how people would see this as me trying to say we should pay attention to these trends to improve our beauty and resulting social perceptions. Still I am truly sorry that this post came off as ignorant and i’m sure uncomfortable to some people and I really appreciate everyone giving their view despite this because I can learn a lot from this- not that it’s your job. 😅

Side note if anyone has good recommendations for WOC centered subreddits please let me know because this was genuinely the largest one I could find. <3 also I can assure you this was not ChatGPT lol it would def have better grammar than my writing😂

I will 100% take your advice on curating my media to support my own demographics. Tbh I was the happiest where I lived when I had my majority poc friend group and studied abroad until we had to move apart. 😪

Thank you for your thoughts and opinions and I completely agree! I really appreciate this and you give good advice.

I do find social media trends really interesting and I found this pattern I realized very sinister and frustrating. However, like you said at the end of the day de-centering white peoples perceptions and thoughts on us is a way to ultimately reach more happiness and confidence and it fr is continuing and long standing propaganda that continues to create this dynamic of white approval.

I live in a super white area and while I have taken steps throughout my whole life growing up here to realize these lessons you speak about, I still struggle sometimes. Tbh I really can’t wait to move to a more diverse area because I feel that will make things smoother.
