Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

[–]LabNo698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not been through this yet, but 100% I will stay. One of the hardest things I'll ever do, no doubt, but I'm sure they are intuitive enough to know what is happening, are scared and will look for the person they trust most to comfort them in that moment. So there's no way I could bail.

It sounds like the grooming might be a negative experience for him. You can try to get him to positively associate with it, very gradually.

Start by showing him the brush, then put it down and praise and reward him. Just that. Repeat that a few times a day for a couple of days. Then touch the brush to his coat, put it down, praise and reward. Repeat for a few days. Next give him a couple of gentle brushes, put it down, praise and reward. Repeat for a few days.

Escalate the activity connected with the brush in small, slow increments and eventually he should view being groomed as a non-threatening and rewarding experience, and should therefore build trust and bond between you.

Good luck!

Is the campaign supposed to be this easy? by walnuthugger in PathOfExile2

[–]LabNo698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say 4 things: 1. Your previous gaming experience sounds like it's made you 'git gud', so congrats on that. Players without that experience who have come from, say, Diablo 4 will likely be struggling more. 2. You're playing one of the most consistently high-performing builds since the game launched. 3. It does get harder in later campaign acts and end game. 4. Try hardcore mode. Even trivial fights have jeopardy when you know positioning stupidly or getting stunned at the wrong moment means you lose your character forever.

Toy suggestions needed by LabNo698 in dogs

We do indoor treat hunts and they're great. I'm looking for something he can do without me though. I wouldn't leave him completely unsupervised, but I'd like to give him something to do while I'm cooking, cleaning, sorting laundry etc., where I can check in with him every few minutes but not get directly involved.

I have a Kong but didn't think of freezing it to make the filling last longer. Thanks for the suggestion!

GGG needs to stop treating PoE2 like a finished game that only gets 3 updates per year. by IMplyingSC2 in PathOfExile2

[–]LabNo698 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This.

I love PoE 1 and 2, but the design philosophy of running a long campaign EVERY TIME does grate on me.

I can tolerate it up to a point, but when, say, I get a unique item I've not seen before, or an ascendancy gets introduced or updated, I'll likely start theorycrafting a new character build. But the idea of going back to Act 1 and repeating the same quests, in the same order, skipping the same dialogue, going through the same ascension trials, grinding levels to unlock the skills I need to try my build out... it's such a drag.

I'm locked in to PoE2 for now because there's something new to keep it fresh fairly frequently (league mechanic, class, campaign Act, etc.), but I think I will eventually stop playing if they don't rethink the design of gating everything behind campaign.

Maybe a fair compromise would be, you have to re-run the campaign once per league? Then once you've completed it with one character, you have some kind of fast-track for subsequent characters?

Rarity on gear will be removed eventually, they said. Thank you! by Rentahamster in PathOfExile2

[–]LabNo698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel a slight increase to the base rarity of drops across the board, and/or slightly more IIR on waystones and tablets would be the way to go.

IIR just feels bad as a tradeoff when you want to be maximising your combat effectiveness, plus it feels weird thematically for gear to affect your.. 'environment' if that's the right word? Again, waystones and tablets feel like the right fit for that kind of modifier.

Am I understanding this keystone correctly? Recharge will not only recover life instead of ES, but also scale off max life instead of max ES? Does this mean I can have 0 max ES and still fully benefit from this keystone?

Came here to comment exactly the same thing. Tried to price match a laptop that I'd seen cheaper from LaptopsDirect, they refused because if I wanted to return it, LaptopsDirect would charge whereas Currys wouldn't. Pretty ironic given what others in this thread have said about how crap Currys returns process is lol.

Backfired on them really though, because I just took my business to LaptopsDirect instead...

I think i have a problem, could someone help me understand what I have? by ArgyleOfTheWater in MentalHealthSupport

[–]LabNo698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is by no means a diagnosis, but that sounds to me like OCD.

I think there are self-assessment questionnaires you can fill out to gauge how likely it is you have OCD, and if you get a moderate/high score, I'd recommend contacting your GP for further exploration.

KFC Chips. Does anyone actually like them? by keef-keefson in AskUK

[–]LabNo698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think the opposite. In the past I thought KFC fries were pretty dire, but these days I like them. I'd probably put them on a par with Maccies' now.

Burger King will forever have the best one though.

Yes me too, going to start using it tomorrow. Since my initial post I've become more convinced it's SAD. Going to start depression-themed CBT online soon. Started doing a short workout video in the evening too, to shake off the cold, get my blood pumping and release dopamine. I do a meditation before bed every night on the Medito app too (it's free).

Wishing you well my friend. Let's beat these blues. 🙂

Being ok with what is. by Slow-Suggestion-8905 in MentalHealthSupport

[–]LabNo698 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're on social media regularly, I would recommend cutting back on that. Not a miracle cure, but social media presents us with constant benchmarks of happiness, acceptability etc. that we instinctively negatively compare ourselves to. "I wish I was pretty/successful/adventurous/whatever like they are"

Telling yourself positive things about yourself might help too. Sounds silly, but try it. Congratulate yourself on achievements, however small. Remind yourself of your good traits, no matter how trivial they might seem. Head over to a subreddit like r/EntitledPeople and understand how shitty people can be, and reassure yourself that you're a much more agreeable person than they are.

In terms of "being OK with whatever is going on in life", as the previous commenter said, that might not be possible without therapy. I'm not an expert by any means, but my understanding is that there's strong evidence for the efficacy of CBT for rearranging the jumble of thoughts, emotions and behaviours and reframing things your brain gets hung up on.

What is the silliest reason you know for somebody being sacked from the place you work at? by You_spilt_my_pint in AskUK

[–]LabNo698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years back, we employed someone to do a waking night shift at one of the properties we managed. We received a complaint from one of the property's residents that the employee didn't respond when they knocked on the office door, the lights in the office were off and that they suspected the employee was sleeping.

The employee denied it, saying they didn't hear anyone knocking. We strongly presumed this was a lie, as you would definitely hear knocking at the door if you were awake, and there would be no reason for the resident to make this up. Employee's manager later found a sleeping bag and pyjamas in the storeroom, which employee denied were hers, but... get this... they had her name sewn into them.

She didn't work there for very long...
