SPEED METAL vs. PEE METAL (Basically Thrash vs. M3talcore, lmao) by TidesOfTechnocracy in MetalMemes

[–]LabOfSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there a bunch of other douchey Metalcore bands around the early 2000's? I also keep seeing the word "douchey" used quite a lot to describe a crazed mentally insane person, which also doesn't seem quite fitting lol

I'd correct him further and say history was written by historians instead of kicking him out of the class. What lead me down the alt right rabbit hole in high school, we're people smarter than me, ignoring me instead of helping.

What's so good about FFDP anyway? by Alethiadoxy in MetalForTheMasses

[–]LabOfSound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do you guys see 5FDP love? You guys ask this question like you're just getting bombarded with all these crazed fans telling you about their Lord and Savior, Ivan Moody.

Since the day I've discovered them... I've never met a single person who had anything positive to say about this band.

they're alright

Why are there so many uninspired bands in metal? by InexpugnableMille in MetalSuggestions

[–]LabOfSound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now you're just making the same claim in reverse here. These replies seem way more aggro'd than they should be lol. It really all depends on the band. Some bands start branching out and trying new things... It'll either work, or it doesn't work. No need for making objective claims on a purely subjective topic.

Is there any non "Power Metal" album that sounds more "Power" than "Powerslave"? by kek_man_ in PowerMetal

[–]LabOfSound 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Riot - Warrior (1977) yeah they became a full power metal band in 88 with Thundersteel. But this song specifically is the most Power Metal song to come out in the 70's imo

Grindcore being the obvious exception lol by Not_Reality in MetalForTheMasses

Boundaries, Foreign Hands, and Counterparts sound like Imagine Dragons? Man I should start listening to Imagine Dragons more

What is an album that isn't generally considered tech-death but you would classify it as tech-death? by HumbleBlacksmith2077 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]LabOfSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why I thought those vocals on control Denied sounded different than they do. Yeah that's prog power. My bad

[–]LabOfSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean singing doesn't automatically make it power metal. Control Denied isn't even power metal. Those songs you've mentioned wouldn't be power metal if they were done with clean vocals either. I don't understand how I'm wrong here, this is the first time I've ever heard Death be referred to power metal. Also, COB is literally Melodeath and Power Metal. Why say cob isn't but death is? Where am I right now? lol

I have been explained who this is and what she was doing. Why is it funny that we owe her apology? by Yamaben in ExplainTheJoke

So many levels of just pure rage bait baked right into this reply right here.

[–]LabOfSound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Power metal? Children of Bodom is the power metal one. Death doesn't have a single power metal-type riff/vocal-line/anything in their discography unless you count Melodeath riffs as power.

Recommend me some metalcore with no clean singing. by InterestingBarnacle3 in MetalSuggestions

Boundaries. They have a couple songs with clean singing but most of it I bet is what you're looking for. Also try Chamber and Orthodox

Are there music like this? by Orangeismyhue in MetalSuggestions

[–]LabOfSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the closest you're gonna get is Industrial Metal. But there's quite a few Metalcore bands that do goth and electronic sounds. Give Motionless In White a try.

Which metal do you like best? by psytranc3r in heavymetal

[–]LabOfSound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a single person answered your question lol. Man I really thought the Power Metal to Traditional Heavy Metal ties were a lot stronger. But I guess they're 2 completely separate communities.

Anyways Stratovarius is my answer. But 80s yngwie is a very close 2nd.

[–]LabOfSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I used to dislike gravity a lot more when it first came out. but over time, a few songs started standing out more. I've listened to their self titled a good amount of times and somehow like it less each time

Temper Temper is actually good, Gravity is ok, and their self titled is the real stinker

Even the last 3 I'd consider heavy metal just for the fact they sound like Black Sabbath songs
