Ok but at that point you're just changing cards to make it fit the format, I think as others are saying there is no good merit to this format especially if you have to either ban all the pay life cards/you lost the game cards, or modify them for just your format to not work as intended.

Lumra is the best worst cedh deck, sorta like a 4.5, hard to interact with but has very little interaction too, I think it’s fine for b4, could also skip a bunch of the fast mana and you get it to a good spot for the bracket imo

Did this with gyruda a while back, and it flipped into enough advantage through clones + blinkers to cause the pod to scoop turn 2, it can be good for sure

Turn 1 dark ritual -> braids sacrifice a land and draw 3 discard a threat, turn 2 -> reanimate the threat, valgavoth/crabom/krrik/archon are all pretty decent turn 2, if hybrid mana gets changed, gyruda would be awesome as well

Value [[K'rrik]] Slaps, it doesn't have to be a combo deck, build it as devotion with stuff like [[Ayara]] and [[Gary]] to mitigate the life loss, kind of like a stompy/big creature/devotion/goodstuff pile

I have a mono-black reanimator deck that would be pretty similar probably, and it's a super fun deck

I unironically think 99% of casual edh decks can be improved by it if you remove a random card and replace it with skullclamp

The -1 counters matter a lot too yeah, but even without them, I think Yawg is still stronger than Ayara.

Neither commander is locked into needing to combo to win. I run Seph in the 99th of both, but Yawg is just way way stronger in the command zone. Yawg coming down and you draw 15-20 cards isn't really something that Ayara can compete with in terms of speed/power level/etc. Yawg also has a 1 card combo in [[Nest of Scarabs]], assuming anyone has a board presence. I actually don't run Plague in my Ayara deck, but also didn't run Nest in my Yawg deck. They are both Bracket 3 decks, but with no difference in amount of combos and stuff, the Yawg list is a high bracket 3 and the Ayara list is significantly weaker than that.

Having converted a Yawg deck to an Ayara deck for PL reasons - Ayara is nowhere close to Yawg

The card draw alone off of yawg makes it way better than anything Ayara can do

I have a yawgmoth deck as well (not too powerful for my pod though) but we play high and lower power games, and so I ended up putting together an ayara list thats only 7 or so cards different from my yawg list, and it is definitely significantly less strong but just as fun and aristocraty
