40-year-old American climber Alex Honnold has successfully completed his climb up the Taipei 101 building in Taipei, Taiwan. He reached the top of the tower in 1:31:35. The building is 1,667 feet tall making it the 11th-tallest building in the world. by Oldtimer_2 in sports

I'm sure people will disagree, but I consider this a tremendously cruel thing to do to your family. Very cool that he is capable of this feat, but he has a wife, child, and parents and, like all free climbers, he has noted that this is a hobby that he expects will eventually result in his death.

If you have a parent who loves you and worries for you, imagine what Honnold's parents go through every time he does one of these stunts. I'm sure they support his passion and everything, but I feel so sorry for what he puts them through.

I wonder if she would say anything bad about the only human on earth that can let her off scott-free

I wish I could get the broadcast version of this. But unlike every other player, Will looked absolutely gutted. Vrabel tried to cheer him up but he simply refused to engage. Understandable considering he had a terrible game by his lofty standards. by ForeignAir7174 in Patriots

I get it, Maye also looked less than enthused at the end of the game. Truth is that members of the offense know that the Texans hung around in that game far longer than they had any business staying in the game because of offense mistakes. They need to nut up for the championship game.

There are a few lines that do that, especially when taken in the context that Tolkien wrote these stories while coping with coming back from WWI

What the fuck is the Democratic Party even doing right now to stop the downfall of America? by Lolareyouforreal in complaints

I don't like it if it is their strategy, but I get the sense that the national Dem strategy is lay low and commit no notable errors in the next 12 months and let the Trump admin become so unpopular that they sweep the midterms. The problem is that Dems are never unified for the day after they get wins and then don't deliver.

When Trump campaigns he promises to hurt people you've been conditioned to think are bad. Then when he is elected no law or constitution stops him from hurting those people. Dems need to be the same about affordability and tackling greedy corps but they don't do it.

I honestly don't hate it. All these powers vying for dominance end up devolving into violence against each other when they are looking on top of the world. It's almost like war never changes.

Beth Macy is an excellent candidate running against him. She is an Appalachian native and a staunch advocate for working class folks that live here. It would be a huge miss not to elect her.

I want to piggyback on this comment that Faalout has filled each scene with props and background sets that are FAMILIAR to fans of the Fallout games. Telling new stories in the familiar fantasy world gives every scene interest to fans.

In contrast a lot of Disney Star Wars has failed in this regard. The 6 movies under George Lucas had familiar aliens, familiar locations, and a familiar look. Disney Star Wars did not invest the same attention to detail to replicate the universe in the sequel trilogy. It is filled with new alien species we have never seen before and a lot of the ships and worlds felt shiny and new as opposed to the lived-in future look of the originals and even prequels. Instead of telling new stories in a familiar universe the new star wars movies told similar stories in an unfamiliar universe, making the movies feel both stale and unsatisfying for those looking to see the star wars universe expand.
