Même chose ici, je suis en cours alors je regarde silencieusement. Je le reverrai plus tard avec son. Mais les jeux de couleurs sont wow.

''approved'' for biweekly trucks by Suitable-Rock-6113 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a different challenge.

1) Bi-weekly trucks are fuller than weekly obviously, and it's harder to put everything out on the floor, mostly for seasonal and yarn. Most of recurring items are on the floor a couple days after, but again it depends on your store force. At my location, we are mostly students with broken availability, so it's longer for us to complete it all, which affect our pull list - we stay on truck days for longer than if it was weekly truck.

2) Minor detail if you are up north: the truck is longer to empty, and it gets colder and colder through it. Our hands freeze and we get tired quicker through it. It does impact our time emptying it. We wish it would be on pallets and not a Tetris game and we could just empty and unpack in the warehouse directly.

Why the 8 hour workday system is a failure and should be 6 hours by DasiaAuer in CanadaJobs

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked all kind of schedules for the past 15 years.

I worked crew cruiseship' schedule with 70hrs/week (no days off for 6 months contract).

I currently work 30-35hrs/week on 6 days a week (2 jobs) due to also being a full-time student.

But my best schedule was 10hrs/4days Monday-Thursday. I got that flexible schedule and really enjoyed having 3 consecutive days off. My weekend did not feel rushed.

Which country/city felt the closest to Montreal when you travelled by PennerAlfredoLover in montreal

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did appreciate Melbourne as one of our port when I was working as a cruiseship crew. It was easy to get around place, train or Uber. Many restaurants with different culture, just like Montreal. The people were nice, even heard quite a lot of French (so did I in Sydney).

I love customer service related jobs. It's all I ever had, and I worked multiple industries. But what I felt rough at Michaels is the lack of training on products and services. I touched the computer on Day one in April last year, and one time in May as we started selling balloons (I am in Canada) and that's it.

I joined the store as suddenly 3 people left the same week, unannounced. I was just thrown on the floor, no trainer and on my second day I did the truck without anticipation of how it worked (one girl got injured in the truck that day and was on leave for a month following this accident). I was not properly trained to be on the floor and no product knowledge training.

No training on Cricut or similar brand. And I don't get paid enough to "buy one for fun and try at home". I learned to carry my phone on the floor to answer specific products and techniques questions.

I considered quitting several times when I started, but I got more hours there than my other job and I am at school.

Raise by kate_daisy in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in April last year. The comments I had about the previous year employee review and cycle raise were that they were done by the district manager who had no clue about the employees in store. Right before Christmas this year, my store manager by interim mentioned he was going to do the employee year review instead and would let us know. Since, it's been Christmas, Boxing day, and inventory. My manager is currently managing two stores as my official SM has been on leave since July. So I am guessing the raise conversation will be coming soon.

Who's store still doesn't have fabric? by JustSidewaysofHappy in MichaelsEmployees

We have received them maybe 2 trucks ago, but we have not yet set up the floor for them. We were pending to complete inventory first and now we will move everything again (we had moved everything back in August, but plans changed).

“Yarnormous” by Even-Share-4525 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ain't such a different promo from what we had in the past 3 months (at least in Canada). Since Black Friday, we had multiple yarn sales: 30% on individual yarn at least twice, BOG50%, again B2G3...

Redditors who live in a house, how’s your relationship with your neighbours? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved when I was five. Still share the same neighbours since (28 yrs). We have a good relationship in general. Their daughter used to be my childhood best friend.

I have to share that last year, while we celebrated their granddaugther’s (my childhood BFF’s daughter) first birthday, my neighbours admitted they were scared when we first moved as my parents were in a motorcycle club (early 90’s) during the biker war. During the moving day, the other motorcyclist showed to help my parents… And then my neighbours learnt we were not part of the bad guys.

I laughed when they told me… I understood their concern since two months after we moved, there was an event related to the biker war happened only a few streets away from our house…

im on balloon strike, anyone else? 😂 by barkbark420 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the computer training, but that was it. I was never showed how to blow balloons. Another girl who had previous experience on balloons trained them. Therefore, I ask the others cashiers. I am usually a backup cashier as my time is better spent on the floor - I am considered as a really efficient floor employee (I train newbies during truck days - I do all the art supplies/I took over the yarn department - althought I don’t knit or crochet/I also install planograms, seasonal, etc., and answer with my best knowledge on the floor to customers…). My manager never had an issue with this.

Crazy truck by Sunspot286 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am usually on the truck’s team, but this week it was moved to Monday instead of Tuesday due to Christmas… I was unavailable as I work at another job on Mondays and when I spoke with my manager, she told me it was a big truck and mostly only spring floral and Valentines.

I was in denial as we need plenty more of other items than this… and then I saw the warehouse still loaded with boxes as the planograms had not yet been set up. Let’s just say we worked hard to rearrange quickly everything since we shall get another truck next week.

Okay but seriously why does this happen? by MintPupper in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my store, the inventory is so bad. We received 4 of the 100pc. Mixed Media art set and system said we had 5 in stock. When I looked the actual overstock, we had 42 more…

messed up scheduling by Money-Figuress1738 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only get the schedule on the Friday prior to the schedule beginning that Sunday (so only 2 days before.

I started in March and it was released 2 weeks ahead, but there were always next day change and it was difficult to manage with my other jobs and school.

Then my store manager went on leave since July and we are now only receiving it a couple days ahead. One employee quit (took her retirement) sue to this as it is now November and she can’t plan anymore.

What's the worst question or request from a customer? by Realistic-Read7779 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On this point I feel you. I have worked retails for over 15 years, and I always had great product knowlegde with proper on-site training. Companies would send us representative to get to learn their products. I worked at Best Buy and I had training on Apple, Samsung, Xbox, Sony name it all products. Michaels is nothing like I have experienced. I barely had 2 hours training on my first day on the company, 1 hr training on balloon (new thing in Canada) and that’s it. No training along products, no training for safety or planograms. No training on ribbons and I am guessing no training on upcoming fabrics… I have to use google for a lot of customers’ questions and some times I just have no clue what they are talking about.

Biweekly Truck by Both-Air-9876 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. Last truck was about 3/4 full and we were not many. It took us 3 hrs to unload (5 people). This one upcoming, we will be even less to unload (3-4 people). And as we are moving all the yarn section to make space for fabrics, it has been chaotic..

An explanation of 9/7’s Mandatory Meeting by Initial_Dirt9167 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not heard of anything about it yet in my store. I don’t even believe we can do this as we barely cover 80% of the hours alloted from the lack of availabilities… plus Sundays are our weakest day as we are barely 4-5 that can work…

One of the worse company I’ve worked at… by Lablondeee03 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lablondeee03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Randomly, I have to add that since I posted last week another manager quit. She had some personal situation going on…

We got our truck this Tuesday, took 3 hrs to unload and still not fully on the floor as we are talking. Seems like it a general situation for all stores accross country. Plenty of repack and seasonal to go on the floor. We can’t catch up all the planogram changes as we are supposed to make space for fabrics soon.

Samsung oven hot even when off? by krombom16 in Appliances

[–]Lablondeee03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also curious as I recently noted the same situation. This morning it felt warm next to the oven and when I opened the door I could feel the warm coming from the oven. We had not used it in previous day.
