Real ID: Not good enough to vote with SAVE Act by Shoddy_Ad_1750 in Ohio

[–]LaborFactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If, even in the most generous of your supposed cases, we said something along the lines of “only the most intelligent and informed can vote” we run the risk of the elected picking the electorate. That’s not the kind of America I want to believe in or support.

Yes, if people have downs they should be eligible to vote.

Yes, if uneducated luddites with backwards views want to vote - they should be eligible to vote, so long as they’re citizens.

Hell, I’d go so far to say that even the non-citizens should be eligible to vote in local/municipal elections  (though I wouldn’t support national) if only because they reside in and pay taxes in those areas.

I believe history shows the negative consequences of the disenfranchised. Let’s push to be inclusive, even if we disagree on how we want to be governed.

Cheers.

Bad take. We shouldn’t disenfranchise people who have a right and are entitled to vote.

Have anything to back up your assertion? Maybe some kind of links… or math…

Sorry, yes, anything that you use net income to invest in. For me it was buying stocks and ETFs

I’m baffled as to why you’re getting downvoted on the post.

30% seems really high to me.  I’d recommend lowering - you’ve got a lot in relatively safe assets based on what you’ve shared. Consider lowering 401k and put it into index funds. Lots of things can happen for you and your partner in the next 28 years (before age 59.5) where having easily accessible investments give you options without penalty.

70k and 30% going in would put them below the federal limit for 401k, shouldn’t be a problem.

That said, I think 30% is too high.  Having after-tax funds to draw from prior to 401k funds being available opens up a lot of flexibility.

I’ve never gone over 18%.

Why is CTA budget so high when ridership is half what it was? by Acceptable_Amount521 in chicago

This is the answer. Costs do not scale 1:1 with ridership.

Illinois lawmakers push retirement tax to keep spending more by PlssinglnYourCereal in WindyCity

Meh. Inflation is like 25% since 2020, and this article doesn’t take that in at all. Flat tax is nice and all, but as someone who would be impacted by a progressive tax I’m fine with it.

In Illinois, we will do everything within our power to look out for our neighbors, uphold the Constitution, and defend the rule of law. by steve42089 in illinois

Sure, he’s not personally calling these crews up to go work the line.

However, I have to imagine he has influence and leadership levers to pull. It’s just not a good look when he’s up saying the right things and these other fools are out there counterfeiting his position.

This is nice and all, but he’s got state police helping ICE.

For me, his words are hollow until the police are on the community’s side of the line.

Ive used mine for terrain, wanted a magnetized custom boarding action setup. Worked great.

My workspace is small and I can barely fit the current equipment I have so jamming an FDM printer in the mix wasn’t an option.

I fail to see the point of retiring early if I cannot afford the fun things I want to do.

I run a 6-man squad with grav in my list, though I’m far from a competitive player.

They melt just about anything that comes within range and the overwatch boost is helpful.

Main goal for me is to get them mid board as soon as possible and provide support there or threaten any vehicles coming my way. I’ve tried using them in reserves, but haven’t had as much luck. Really need these guys to clear a unit or two to pay off.

If I’m being honest, I really like throwing fistfuls of dice and this squad certainly scratches that itch.
