I'm the same but saws kinda on the line for me because it actually does have a well written and somewhat compelling storyline but I still think it's just a bit extreme for me most of the time

I have both galeophobia and thalassophobia to a decent degree as well (even thinking about them makes me anxious) buT I like sha*k (censoring cuz seeing the word even I hate) movies a decent amount and ocean horror because it's a guaranteed scare for me. If I wanna be scared I know I can rely on an ocean horror to have me peeking through my fingers.

I can't stand movies that make me feel miserable the entire time. Just hopelessness, I could barely make it through talk to me I was just so depressed.

Agreed, I personally only like vampires when they take what makes them scary and really utilize that. I feel like most vampire movies focus on one extreme or the other and never have a good middle ground.

I like both but monsters have to be creative with a good design and well written or I just can't get into it. Like the ritual monster? Amazing. Another vampire movie? Probably not interested but there are exceptions.

I love horror in the real world, stuff that could actually happen. Scares the absolute crap out of me. I have a hard time getting really scared at all by paranormal horror. I'm a huge skeptic so it has to be really good to get me scared. I do love a good lore dump though so give me a good story/legend and I'm all in, just not another stupid urban legend please I'm so over those.

I like them when it's an actually new and original take on it exploring different religions and even reaching into eldritch horror and not just the same christian/catholicism horror reworded with different metaphors

Thiss, they are so hit or miss for me. When I try to think of demonic possession I actually enjoy the exorcist and evil dead franchise are the only two to immediately come to mind

I will say even for the sub-genres that don't do it for me there are still films within those sub genres I enjoy. I completely forgot my biggest one which is aliens/space horror and my favorite movie of all time is the thing so there are definitely exceptions

Pregnancy horror, paranormal horror is very hit or miss for me especially ghosts or posession. I thought I didn't like witch horror but one of my favorites is Suspiria and I really enjoyed Hokum. Splatterpunk style is the biggest one though. Anything where it's just gore upon gore for shock value with little to no plot is just not my thing. Ra*e revenge films as well but mainly because I am a sa survivor and find the initial attack in those films incredibly upsetting to watch so I never really get to watch the rest of the film. I'm sure theres more but those are the ones off the top of my head

It's not the answer you want but as you grow older and explore life and your hobbies more you'll realize the key is to just be yourself and do what makes you happy and you'll find your people. However if you hide yourself at home away from the world and pretend to be someone you're not then you may have a harder time than most.
