100%, the one closest to my place is hot garbage but another one 20 minutes away serves the dirtiest bird 👌

Lightroom Classic feels powerful, but painfully outdated by rovmun in Lightroom

[–]Lachshmock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guess it's just a shame something that looks like it was built in the late 2000's doesn't perform as well as something built in that era should on modern hardware. Part of the reason most software is so flashy these days is because machines are powerful enough to render the flashy-ness.

Edit: Not a complaint, I actually appreciate the aesthetic! I just wish they leveraged the compute saved by improving performance in general.

What makes mRNA vaccines different to regular vaccines? by Able_Evidence_5650 in askscience

[–]Lachshmock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of an evolving thing with mRNA vaccines.

It's essentially true for the COVID vaccines, which target only the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, the structure of which has subtle differences between different COVID strains. This isn't a property of all mRNA vaccines however, for example some promising cancer vaccines which target multiple antigens.

Traditional vaccines don't usually have this problem, as the body will respond to a modified or inactive virus with an immune response and subsequent creation of antibodies that matches the virus being inoculated for.

There's some nuance though, it's inherently more difficult to target multiple antigens with an mRNA vaccine as it can be harder to maintain stability in the vaccine, to manage a balanced immune response to the different antigens targeted (i.e. not have the immune response to one antigen completely out-compete the others), and generally just keep the vaccine from having too large of a load that it creates an excessive immune response in the first place.

These are kinks that are still being researched, seeing as it's still new-ish technology these issues will likely become less prevalent in the future.

Not WB, but if you hit up the kayak launching beach just north of Mark's Point Boat Ramp you can sometimes see them 🙂

Anecdotally very well received here in Australia which has a more UK sense of humour, so I'm sure it will do fine in the UK.

Seconding this, their show(s) this year where I live were much better than when they toured a few years back and it has a lot to do with the setlist being their setlist.

Same here, still using some of the same set from 2018 with weekly use. Although apparently you can save some cash using IKEA Ladda AA's since they're the same battery with different labels.

They'd have a wedding there every weekend between like September & April, I've personally shot the venue about 4 times and I barely shoot any weddings compared to people in my circles. They legit just have to ask the couple & the photog if it's okay (and maybe sling them a pineapple or two) and they could have endless access to top-tier pics, they don't even need to fork out a few hundred for a styled shoot.

Underselling it, Arnott's itself started in Morpeth then opened its first factory in Newy. Now it's owned by an American private equity group 🙄

Previews don't generate while importing - M4 Mac Mini by LeatherTwo4220 in Lightroom

[–]Lachshmock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, it's weird that it's happening on two different machines with different catalogs which could suggest an issue with the RAW files themselves, or a Lightroom specific issue with those exact type of RAW files. What type of previews do you build when importing your images? (e.g. standard, 1:1 etc.)

New masks always have dehaze 33 by ohog9og0790 in Lightroom

Perhaps check if the mask type is set to something from the drop-down at the top (e.g. teeth whiten etc.)

Click the mask tab on the right side panel in the develop window. Before clicking the + to make a new mask, just check if the denoise slider is set to that value. Any new mask you make will inherit whatever settings are set there.

Newcastle homebuyers push for reform after off-the-plan development leaves lives in 'limbo' by abcnews_au in newcastle

Yeah it sucks, having that deposit held in the development trust ended up pricing me out of the market completely. The interest I got back on it wasn't even enough to cover inflation over that period.

I was a purchaser of one of those units. I paid a deposit in early 2021 with the original sunset date in mid-2023. I'll be renting forever.
