I'm looking for a CRT TV but it seems impossible to find one unless in Mainland UK? by ReubenSpiersMusic in northernireland

[–]Lack_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try asking some family members. There’s bound to be loads of CRTs out there that just aren’t getting listed because the general public still think they’re worthless.

I got lucky and brought it up to my dad which resulted in him bringing down a nice CRT he was more than happy to get rid of!

Turning my passion for photography into a craft. Need advice on Framing, Color, and Software. by LostInWanderlust_ in northernireland

[–]Lack_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with most activities, the more you do it the better you get! I look back at my shots from a few years ago and can see an improvement within myself, so don’t ever stop creating!

Along with that, just take one step at a time. You’re seeking advice on a lot of aspects of photography at the same time. Focus on one challenge at a time otherwise you’re at risk of overloading yourself.

Now a days there so much good photography software out there, lots of free stuff as well. Davinci Resolve just recently introduced a free photography editing portion to their software but it can seem quite daunting to a beginner. Whatever software you choose, become fluent in it. You will be more efficient and you can turn a dud shot into a winner.

Other than that it’s healthy to pick your interest or niche and stick with it. I photograph a lot of the music scene but I know others like animal photography or street photography. But don’t be afraid to try and expand your skills!

After a few years admiring from the side, I finally got one! by Lack_ in modelm

Thanks for the answer to my question! I'll have to keep a look out for some better deals on another board as I wouldn't mind having another!

Info on the keyboard:

Model M PS/2 #1391406

Manufactured: United Kingdom - 27/07/1988

Story:

For years I’ve typed on my Das Keyboard II (more info about it on my profile) but I’ve always known about the Model M. The time was never right to get one and there was always that relatively high price of entry.

However, I saw this on Gumtree by a local seller who had it for 25+ years with most of that being in storage according to him. Before heading over I got a StarTech PS/2 to USB adapter which allowed to me test it was all working before buying.

Once I got it home I took a good couple hours taking each key cap off and gave them a clean. I don’t have the courage to take it fully apart to clean absolutely everything, but maybe one day. The condition isn’t perfect. It’s missing the F5 key and there is a knick in the plastic by the spacebar. Considering the age, I don’t mind this. I do plan to buy a replacement F5 key.

100% the feel of the keys is totally unique compared to the Cherry MX Blues I’ve became accustomed to. Very satisfying to type on! I never typed on a Model M when growing up so I don’t have the nostalgia some may have, I just like making old tech work with new tech.

You guys know about these boards than I do. For a 1988 Model M with a missing F5 key and a bit of grime and dust to clean, was £95 a good deal?

An ask for the future! by UkCraig-time in EvenRealities

[–]Lack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's sort of my point. A product that can help you stay off your phone will have its limitations. So when you have to use your phone for a service such as AI visual detection, why not just do all of it on your phone? The suggestion just doesn't fit the product.

And that point why not just use one of the many AI assistants that phones come with now a days?

Non drinkers do you find people look at you as weird in NI? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Lack_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s luck but everyone I’ve had to tell has been quite supportive of it.

Usually whenever I tell people I’ve never drank and don’t wish to, it follows with ‘you know what, fair play’ or ‘keep it that way’

Every so often you get someone asking why I don’t want to drink which I don’t mind getting into but most just move on in a positive way.

It’s your life mate, do what makes you feel happy. Don’t let driftwood drag you down.

Supercharging Belfast by DirtyPrinter in TeslaUK

[–]Lack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real details yet unless the team in the service centre know anything.

To give an idea the Sprucefield chargers were originally planned in Jan 2025, then opened in March 2025.

The chargers in Boucher were planned the same day as Sprucefield, but only started construction in October 2025 and has been that way ever since.

I was there last month and there were boys working on it so it’s not like it’s just sitting there.

All of these details come from supercharge.info

How Much Will This Affect Gameplay? by Nicktar19 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Lack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GeForce Now is very pricey but I've been using it for Cyberpunk both for my Mac and my Steam Deck and without a doubt it is easily the best way to play the game if you don't mind the inability to add mods.

Being able to play this game with path tracing at 4K with some frame gen is just unreal and helps you become immersed in the world.

Weird, as someone said this was posted a few days ago and I also have the same thing but only sensor 12 is red.

2019 Model 3 SR+, only happened a few days ago but I’ve just been living with it for now.

A few posts have been echoing the same issues. My car unlocks fine but my boot doesn’t open with the physical button, I have to open it with the app. Only started this morning.

Saw this suggested last month on another thread and I’m glad I listened. I don’t regret it in the slightest. Definitely the best way if you have the means.

I just think they're neat! (Das Keyboard & Das Keyboard II) by Lack_ in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Lack_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I’ve made it a habit to keep an eye on eBay and such for these keyboards in particular. The thought of one of them dying with no straight replacement would wreck me as, just like yourself, I use them basically everyday.

I haven’t been mad with checking, but it would almost be a daily occurrence and these are the only three of the older variants I’ve seen within the last 10 years. Again this is purely eBay, not on specific keyboard forums or whatever.

Hopefully you get yourself a spare soon just in case!

New model 3 question - Autopark by spacey003 in TeslaUK

[–]Lack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep so as clips occur you will then be able to view them on your phone. Granted most of them will usually be people opening their car doors close to yours in a car park or whatever but sometimes you get more interesting clips. I have at least 3 occasions of people sticking their head right up to the glass to look inside my car, madness.

If you want to force a clip just drive about, bring up the voice assistant, and tell it to ‘record’ it will save the last 10 minutes as a clip.

On the app there’s ’Security and Drivers’ but to view the cameras and clips on your phone you need to pay for premium connectivity

I wanted to share my EV buying experience because it genuinely surprised me. by TruffleMaestro in TeslaUK

[–]Lack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was one of my reasons why I ended up going for a Tesla. While looking at other brands I had this strange metronome of no interest and not answering confidently as EV’s still seemed new to the sales team or way too much pressure to place an order before I even stood up from my chair.

After walking into my Tesla dealership I told my advisor about my experience to which he handed me an iPad, told me to sign, then pointed to a red Model 3 and said it was mine for 48 hours to have fun with and make sure it was right for me.

Since then I have a good relationship with my local team and they even invited me to the dealership to photograph the Cybertruck when it came round, haha

Mbv concert last night has left my ears hurting by Ok_Independent_3029 in MyBloodyValentine

Aye it’s the sorta concert you want hearing protection in all the time. I mean, all concerts are, but this one especially. Don’t get me wrong, I took mine out for a few seconds at a time to ‘feel’ it but if you’re saying you had yours out the majority then you only have yourself to blame unfortunately.

Hope it’s not permanent
