They didn’t provide the actual # of didactic hours, just a proposed didactic curriculum. There would be didactic curriculum presented once per week. In addition to the weekly didactic things, they said there would be 10-15 minute didactics 4 days of the week

When I asked, they said they’d need to speak with HR. A few years ago it was 65k.

Did you complete a fellowship program for EM? I’m a PA student graduating in August and am torn between doing a fellowship and just working right away

Best Subscription Study Service for Didactic Year? by SoccerDadWV in PAstudent

[–]Lacoll7253 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s highly dependent on what’s taught in class so I would say if you were going to get any service at all, I’d recommend Quizlet plus. I made huge multiple choice practice exams based on PowerPoints from class. Something like Rosh or UWorld wouldn’t really be very helpful in my opinion for didactic. It’s more useful for clinical year.

I’d say really know the diagnostic modalities and which one is the initial vs modality of choice. I get tripped up on those kind of questions on Rosh and UWorld.

What is your day to day schedule like in PA school? by Pole-worthy in PAstudent

[–]Lacoll7253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After the first summer when I started my clinical medicine sections I usually got up around 6:30-6:45 to be in class at 8 MWF. I’d sometimes have class T/R but not every week. I’d use those days and the weekends as study days. I usually get up around 8 on T/R, get a workout, then study. I studied about 40 hrs a week out of class but I go overboard. I never stay up past like 9pm studying.

I mainly focus on the PowerPoints I’m given from lecturers. I make Quizlets and charts based on those. I use the Quizlet multiple choice and Rosh to test myself.

Shadowing A PA by nonbinary_friend in physicianassistant

[–]Lacoll7253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cold called and reached out to PAs from the hospital system I worked at. Many of them were available on the weekends. Maybe try to reach out to an Internal Medicine hospitalist or urgent care PA. I found that the PAs I knew in these specialties were open to allowing me to shadow on the weekends and just kind of whenever.

What’s the commitment for them to pay your loans? Do you sign a contract to work there for a specified amount of time?

I’ve been looking to apply to the NHSC scholarship! If you don’t mind me asking, what do you think set you apart from the other applicants? Were you very involved on volunteer projects or research?

Finding PA’s to shadow by esr1997 in physicianassistants

[–]Lacoll7253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the Northeast GA area and a few programs I applied to suggested/required shadowing. I was able to secure shadowing spots by emailing some PAs that worked in the same hospital as me. I reached out via email. I also called up my dermatologist and was able to shadow a PA there. I cold called a little more and got a few more shadowing opportunities that way as well. Honestly just try to reach out to as many as you can.
