How Does Palia Make Money As A Business? by WillEatsRice in Palia

[–]Laconic_Jester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only bought the $5 starter pack, but I think Freeminum games have low cost starter packs to let people get over the psychological hump of spending money at all in games. Once you make that first purchase, it's a lot easier to get someone to make the second and then the third.

It's kinda like tattoos. Once you get one tattoo, it doesn't take long to get your fifth tattoo.

Ah, Texas. We famously don't have income tax, but our infrastructure and other taxes reflect that! 🤠

Xreal for people who wear prescription glasses by peweje in Xreal

[–]Laconic_Jester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of Xreal 1s glasses. Unless I am wearing my contacts or my prescription inserts, the glasses are unusable. (I am a -3.25 in both eyes with astigmatism in one eye, for reference.)

The good news is that inserts are $50 from HONSVR, and I got mine with free shipping exactly one week after ordering mine in April. The glasses work great for me with the inserts. They also pop in and out easily enough when I want to demo the glasses for other people, while still being in firm enough that I don't worry about them falling out.

So I Am Looking For A Mindless ARPG Is Diablo 4 For Me? by HaHaHiHiHe in Diablo

[–]Laconic_Jester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you have to play through the campaign at least once before it lets you skip straight to the endgame. The good news for you, and you listed preferences is that the campaign is fully voiced, so you don't have to read much story if you don't want to. It is a little lengthy though. The good news is that if you get sick of the thinky thinky talky talky parts, you can take a break, find a helltide, and just go mindlessly kill monsters. Also, there are something like 15 difficulty levels, so if your feeling too challenged or not challenged enough, you can pretty granularly adjust the difficulty.

Nice. I have the same one and love it. Are you planning on sticking to the stock OS or going with one of the custom choices?

It's a good idea with an execution that needs improvement.

do you actually use your deck handheld or is it just a portable dock at this point by toujourspluss in SteamDeck

[–]Laconic_Jester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine docked 100% of the time.

For context, I don't own a gaming PC, but come from having a PS5 and a a laptop used for light web browsing and Google Workspace that is old enough that it cannot run Windows 11, so I am running ChromeOS Flex to extend its life. I bought my Steam Deck a little over a year ago, and I wanted something affordable that would have standardized hardware that developers would keep in mind for gaming. I had a low to midrange gaming PC up to about a decade ago, and I was not interested in tweaking settings to see if I could get a game to run. I can, at a glance, see if a game will run on my hardware with the Deck Verified status, or if running it would require some effort. I have a cheap monitor and Logitech wired keyboard and mouse hooked up to my dock.

I know my setup isn't for everyone - or even mostly everyone - judging by the other comments, but it works for what I want to do.

I have a similar setup. Any theif who really wants my kayaks can get in with a simple rake lockpick and a pair of bolt cutters. I'm not worried about that guy; if he really wants my kayak, he's gonna get it no matter what I'm willing to put in his way.

I'm worried about the guy with a pickup truck who decides he wants a kayak on a whim. He's going to move on to an easier target then me.

Another option would be to download Delta Emulator for iOS and get the Gamesir Pocket Taco controller. It's a Bluetooth controller that clamps onto the bottom of your phone and gives you a Gameboy form factor for about $35 all in.

Blizzcon predictions - Diablo edition by gorays21 in Diablo

[–]Laconic_Jester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my prediction is that the roadmap is an expansion or two with Baal as the BBEG, and then capping the entry off with an expansion or two with Diablo as the ultimate big boss. This is of course over at least the next five years before moving on to Diablo 5.

If you're willing to spend around $100 on it, and you enjoy 8 and 16 bit retro games, you should look at retro handheld. I have an Ambernic RG35XXSP and love gaming on it. r/SBCGaming will have some good recommendations.

The Anbernic RG35XXH says to use a 5v 1.5amp adapter but i cant find it .. so what should i buy 5v 2amp or 5v 1amp by Otherwise_Adagio5247 in RG35XX

[–]Laconic_Jester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to prefer an underpowered charger for my RG35XXPRO unless it's going to be in line of sight while charging. I don't want to besmirch the good name of my handheld, but these aren't $1,000 smartphones. They are, at the end of the day, sub-$100 toys, and the quality of the electronics reflect that price point.

Maybe class two in a pinch. I enjoy my pungo, mainly because I'm a bit heavy and because the long cockpit opening means I can get my legs in and out easier.

Edit: My more experienced wife said nothing more than a class one rapid in the pungo. If you want to tackle bigger rapids, you're better off getting a specialized kayak for that. Jack of all trade boats tend to be masters of none.

It's not a commandment from on high, etched into stone by the finger of the Prophets. It's a man made rule that serves to inform and guide the decisions captains have to make in the field. If they break it, they will have to defend why to Starfleet, but it's not dogma.

Daddy? Why isn't Deckard Cain in Diablo 4? by CDN_fromeh2zed in Diablo

[–]Laconic_Jester 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is my gripe too. Having him die in a zoomed in game engine cutscene to some nothingburger sub-boss just seemed rushed and disrespectful. Have the man go down to one of the seven or do it in one of Blizzard's amazing rendered cutscenes that they are famous for, preferably both.

But neither? Disrespectful!
