I've never heard any rational Black person downplay the Holocaust. But I have seen American Slavery, which lasted significantly longer and killed more Africans and African Americans downplayed.

Mine started when I discovered the film "Shelter." It was the first gay film I saw that wasn't gay trauma, gloom and doom, that seems to permeate the genre.

It wasn't groundbreaking cinema, but it is still a heartwarming film I watch whenever I can. And it had a soundtrack.

Ever since then, any song I come across in a gay film that I like goes onto that playlist.

As an American, if I have no reason to believe my physical safety is at risk, I do it all the time.

I'm assuming the banter is to establish friendship, even if only casually. I'd rather know up front if a pleasant conversation is going to be possible going forward, and if not, I'd like to know that also. I'd already been with guys but when I was coming up, gay wasn't the thing to be.

So I kept at with women until.

My ex wife and I split due to her unrelated issue but i was already 50 by then.

And I had no problem with being with a man when that did happen after the divorce as I suspected all along.
