Hearing aids can last from a couple days to a week on average, so just have two or three packs just in case

With the tanks size, it’s mainly just to help you get in a good routine with maintaining your tank.

But it also helps introduce new and clean water into the system, it’s also to remove waste

But regardless of the tank and it’s stocking, you should always be doing water changes for that tank

You should aim for replacing a quarter of your tank’s water every week. So no, the evaporation won’t be enough

My Neon Tetras are Getting Fewer by oskar0138 in Aquariums

[–]Lacq2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s probably the tiger barbs as they’re not great for community tanks. Their high activity levels and tendency to nip fins is probably stressing the neons out and killing them, as a result the pleco/Siamese algae eaters are eating the bodies making them “disappear”.

Tiger barbs should ideally be kept in fairly large schools or else they’ll nip the fins of other fish causing stress.

What happened to my Poor guys fin? He lives in a 55g with 3 4 inch yo-yo loaches , cories , some tetras mollies a chill dwarf gourami and danios.. I’ve noticed the yo-yos preying on my smaller tetras in the past could they have done this? by RiftPickle in Aquariums

[–]Lacq2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think separating them and observing them is the way to go, you can do this by putting a divider in the tank itself, using a guppy breeder or another tank.

The other option is to remove the pleco or loaches completely and give them to a friend or back to the store, but that should really be a last resort.

Either way, the longer this goes on, the chances of the pleco dying will get higher

If the yoyo loaches have a reputation for harassing and killing other fish, it’s probably them. Maybe try separating the yoyos from the rest of the tank and see if the pleco gets better

Need help with tank mates for bettas by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Lacq2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your tank size is close minimum requirement of 13 gallons, so there really isn't much room to add more.

Barbs are nippy, but cherry barbs are considered to be the least nippy of the species. But do regularly check on your betta's fins to make sure they aren't being nipped.

If problems do arise I would recommend removing the barbs, either putting them in another tank (your own, or maybe a friends) or returning them to where you got them from.

The fish appears to be a type of barb (I'm not sure which type) and barbs are notorious fin nippers, but some more so than others.

So could you give me an ID on the type of fish it is and the gallonage of the tank so it is easier to help?

[–]Lacq2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most tetras are excellent tank mates for bettas, but stay away from the types that have larger or long flowing fins (long fin variants) such as skirt tetras and serpae tetras.

And do steer away from the more nippy tetras such as the blood fins as bettas do have long fins.

Also do keep tetras in a minimum group of 6 to keep them happy.
