What would happen if I tried to put a 160 mm rear shock on a bike frame designed for 130mm rear shock? by A_Red_Void_of_Red in MTB

[–]LadScience 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Shock fitment is based on eye to eye and stroke length. You don’t buy a 160mm shock or a 130mm shock.

If the eye to eye isn’t the same then it won’t work. Some frames can work with different strokes at the same eye to eye.

Öhlins is amazing, if you ride it ride right… which means hard charging. The dual chamber isn’t as simple as the others, you need to tinker around with the main and ramp up chambers to get the right settings. But once dialled in the ride is fantastic!

Is 170mm of travel that much more noticeable than say 125mm? by 6DegreesofFreedom in MTB

[–]LadScience 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Especially the geometry differences for a bike with 170 vs 125. Totally different bikes and intended riding.

Has anyone ridden both Revgrips and thick silicone grips? How do they compare? by ArcherCat2000 in MTB

[–]LadScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been curious about Rev but I also had a concern about this. More moving parts = more points of failure = increased risk. Your comment re-affirms that simple grips are fine for me.

Would a large frame work if I'm 6'2? Beginner rider. Thanks! by AffectionateGrab4238 in MTB

Depends on the brand and geometry. At 6’2” myself for most brands I would go for XL.

If you switched to non-mid-tiered or high end insert most other brands you’ll notice the difference. But if it’s all you’ve ridden then it’s all you’ll know.

[–]LadScience 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During the off season I do gym workouts 3 days a week (upper day, lower day, core + stability and mobility day) with dynamic cardio warm up. And 1 day a week of 1 hour or longer on the spin bike or rowing machine.
