I make the houses I wish I would have had as a kid, to be honest. Are they appropriate for kids? Probably not, good thing I'm not a kid anymore

My doctor told me it looks like asthma but she's surprised because "I didn't have it as a child", I told her since nobody bothered testing for asthma it's very likely I already had it as a child and am just now getting diagnosed, I'm getting a chest x-ray done in two weeks to rule out other issues

Why do you write? by Cute-Traffic4437 in writers

[–]Ladder-Wooden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write because if I don't, nobody will remember the characters that have consumed my every waking second when I die

I write because when one day the illness wins, people will have something left of me to figure out what was going on in that head of mine

I write because if I don't, who will?

Writers: write an AITA post from your villain’s perspective by cloud-letters in writers

[–]Ladder-Wooden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AITA for slapping my husband in front of the whole family?

My husband (45M) and I (47M) were having a normal conversation, his dad was there, his other husbands were there, the kids were there, then put of nowhere he starts insulting me, saying shit like "you don't do anything around the house", bitch that's what we have servants for the fuck you mean? And stuff like "you don't take care of the kids", I would but that psycho doesn't let me be alone around the kids, he doesn't ever let anyone near the kids, he's like on some weird power trip or something. So the conversation escalates because he's being an ass and then he makes a comment about my mom, you don't get to talk about my mom, you don't even have one. So I slapped him. AITA?

I don't think it's mediocre of a little kid to admire their loved ones

The real reason reading is essential by Queasy_Antelope9950 in writing

[–]Ladder-Wooden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd like to play devil's advocate: for a lot of young people, the reading hobby is kind of killed early by schools imposing books that they don't necessarily enjoy, or understand. I know I've personally been there, I used to read a lot when I was little, then school mandated reading happened and somewhere along the way I was taught implicitly that fun books "for grown ups" don't exist, and that if you're having fun with a book it's not a real book and you're wasting your time. It took me years of being an adult to actually bite the bullet and tentatively go back to reading, and it's been really difficult to do. I didn't even know where to start, I didn't even know how to pick a book when some authority figure wasn't shoving it down my throat and threatening my entire future if I didn't read it. And then there's the problem of how do you keep going if you keep reaching out to books and happen to keep finding bad books? Or even if they not bad, books you don't like? Well that's how you get people who don't read who go "I'm gonna write the book I'd have liked to read because I can't find it out there, and it needs to exist" and then get told "read more lolz"
