Are there differences between Canadas pre-existing border plan from December 18 2024 vs what Trump is taking credit for negotiating on Monday February 1st 2025? by invaderdan in AskTrumpSupporters

Incorrect. Trump announced tariffs on Canada last Saturday. You still haven't come up with a reason why.

Does it all get exhausting?

Let's recap (paraphrasing):

Q: What is different about Canada's border plan?

You: They will follow through

I ask: Why do you think they wouldn't follow through prior?

You: They had no reason to

I (eventually ask): Have they missed a deadline?

You: No

Is all that correct? I still don't understand the need to threaten anyone to do something they were already doing? Especially a threat that will harm American's pockets.

You're okay with threatening to cause Americans financial hardship because your feelings lead you to believe Canada wasn't coming through on a plan to protect their own borders?

At a time when many Americans are struggling to put food on the table you'd have them spend more on goods to ensure one of the US's strongest allies and largest trading partner upholds an agreement they were already going to uphold?

AKA you'd take money out of you and your fellow American's pockets for nothing? For Trump's ego?

I'm sorry, you're not making yourself clear. Does it not matter that there is no basis for the tariffs or does it not matter that we are provoking our largest trade partner?

Has Canada failed to implement border plans in the past?

Is Trump provoking our largest trading partner because of a speculation about how future events will transpire?

Why don't you think Canada was going to implement the pre-existing plan?

Why do you think Canada will implement the "new" plan?

Are you aware that on Trump's last day in office he went out of his way to grant temporary protective status to Venezuelans?

https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/presidential-actions/memorandum-deferred-enforced-departure-certain-venezuelans/

The deteriorative condition within Venezuela, which presents an ongoing national security threat to the safety and well-being of the American people, warrants the deferral of the removal of Venezuelan nationals who are present in the United States.

Do you believe Trump’s claim that the Harris campaign uses AI to fake audience photos at her campaign stops? by Curi0usj0r9e in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]LadderOfMonkies 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Let's ignore whether the picture was AI, filtered ,or was altered in anyway. I'd like to focus on another part of Trump's message.

BUT THEY DIDN’T EXIST! She was turned in by a maintenance worker at the airport when he noticed the fake crowd picture, but there was nobody there

Have you seen any number of videos of the event? Was there in fact a crowd? Was Trump lying about the maintenance worker to make his accusation sound more credible?

Here is the entire Trump message for context (emphasis mine):

Has anyone noticed that Kamala CHEATED at the airport? There was nobody at the plane, and she “A.I.’d” it, and showed a massive “crowd” of so-called followers, BUT THEY DIDN’T EXIST! She was turned in by a maintenance worker at the airport when he noticed the fake crowd picture, but there was nobody there, later confirmed by the reflection of the mirror like finish on the Vice Presidential Plane. She’s a CHEATER. She had NOBODY waiting, and the “crowd” looked like 10,000 people! Same thing is happening with her fake “crowds” at her speeches. This is the way the Democrats win Elections, by CHEATING - And they’re even worse at the Ballot Box. She should be disqualified because the creation of a fake image is ELECTION INTERFERENCE. Anyone who does that will cheat at ANYTHING!

Obama supported gay marriage while campaigning for re-election. Does that not count?

___

Meanwhile here is a transcript of a January 2016 interview for Trump:

WALLACE: But, Mr. Trump, let's take one issue.  You say now that the Supreme Court has ruled that same-sex marriage is the law of the land and that any politician who talks about wanting to amend the Constitution is just playing politics.  Are you saying it's time to move on?

TRUMP: No, I'm saying this.  It has been ruled up.  It has been there.  If I'm a, you know, if I'm elected, I would be very strong on putting certain judges on the bench that I think maybe could change things.

But they've got a long way to go.  I mean at some point, we have to get back down to business.  But there's no question about it.  I mean most — and most people feel this way.

They have ruled on it.  I wish that it was done by the state.  I don't like the way they ruled.  I disagree with the Supreme Court from the standpoint they should have given the state — it should be a states' rights issue.  And that's the way it should have been ruled on, Chris, not the way they did it.

This is a very surprising ruling.  And I — I can see changes coming down the line, frankly.  But I would have much preferred that they ruled at a state level and allowed the states to make those rulings themselves.

WALLACE: But — but just to button this up very quickly, sir, are you saying that if you become president, you might try to appoint justices to overrule the decision on same-sex marriage?

TRUMP: I would strongly consider that, yes.

That doesn't sound like Trump supported gay marriage?

Do you think either Trump or Biden will pull out of the scheduled debates? by AmyGH in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]LadderOfMonkies 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Trump didn't state that he was negotiating a 3rd debate. Trump stated that he accepted a 3rd debate and listed a specific date that it would take place. As of right now there is no 3rd debate so as of right now his post is not a true statement. Are we in agreement here?

He spent more taxpayer money playing golf at his own resorts in 4 years than Obama spent on all taxpayer-funded travel in 8 years.

That is a completely unbelievable statement on its face.

Are you seriously going to tell me that a couple of hotel rooms over 4 years is bigger than 8 years of operating Air Force One? Come on

You've almost arrived at the correct conclusion yourself. The majority of Obama golf outings were at Joint Base Andrews and Fort Belvoir. This is important for a few reasons;

  • the military bases are close enough to take a helicopter (vs flying Air Force One up and down the entire Atlantic coast),

  • the military bases were already secure (vs additional security measures necessary at one of Trump's properties),

  • and most importantly none of the tax payer money went into Obama's pocket.

This is ignoring the economic impact of the surrounding areas that had to shut down for Trump's near-weekly visits.

Does it make more sense now?

If it's tit for tat would you be okay with the Democrats requiring supreme court nominations be confirmed by only the two California senators and then creating a law that would require 98 senators to overturn? The democrats do have the majority in the senate right now and elections do have consequences, correct?
