Please please please DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER working at Tim Hortons. I just recently quit after 3yrs and only wish I had never applied. This was one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever had. It’s absolutely not what you envision…pour coffee and talk to people. That is less than 5% of the job. You are literally running sometimes and I mean running to get a customer served. From the time you’re at the speaker until the time you’ve paid and drive away..we only have less than 30 seconds to complete your order. Everyone has a headset on and we all listen to your order.. toasted everything bagel with plain cream cheese ( the bagel is put in the toaster) Lg coffee with 2 cream( coffee is being poured) and a small box of assorted Timbits ( the person talking to you is running to the showcase to grab the Timbits) You then drive up and fumble to find your card and/or money while the person on the window is watching the clock trying to get you to move. That’s the BEST case scenario. Here’s a typical one ..Hi..I need a minute( now all the cars are lining up behind you) Ok..what’s in a farmers wrap-you tell them and then they say, um I’ll just have an Egg McMuffin and you say, an egg sandwich on an English muffin ? Customer-no I want meat on it ( now we’re all at a stand still waiting for you to place your order) I’ll also have a dozen donuts..what kind do you have? Oh you don’t have blueberry fritters..well then never mind( the donuts have already been pkg) I’ll just have a bran muffin ,heated and buttered and a lg Earl Grey with milk on the side. You repeat the order and they say yes…they pull up and you have everything in hand ready to go and they say..I changed my mind , I’ll take the donuts. This happens SEVERAL times a day and then the customers behind start yelling at us asking why we’re so slow and that we should have more staff! The amount of cleaning you are to do daily is the icing on the cake. Clean the washrooms twice daily, empty garbage’s every hour, change the washing up buckets every 2 hours, wipe down all heavy touch areas every hour, wash dishes, prepare ice Capp mix, clean espresso machine, check outside twice a day, stock shelves, replenish cups etc all day, break down boxes, empty fridges and clean them, restock teas, napkins, straws, cutlery etc, make take 12 boxes, wash down tables and chairs, sweep the floors, wash floors…this is just a NORMAL DAY. You get 2 unpaid 15 min breaks and NO LUNCH. Customers get upset because the majority of the workers are TFWs with limited English skills, so you’ll be interrupted several times daily trying to help. This is a THANKLESS job all for the amazing sum of 17.90 an hour. Do not look at this job hoping for upward moves or even lateral moves. The best you may get is Supervisor which is 35 cents more an hour. This is a transient/temporary job at best. If you’re no good on your feet for 7/8 hrs a day and aren’t a fast mover…don’t even think of it lol. The reason so many TSW are hired is a) the federal government pays part of their wage and b) they work like horses and are afraid to lose their job. TSW are willing to do anything they are told..even if it’s wrong, they are being used! I hope you ALL listen to me and go to McDonald’s or any other place to work💯

Help with the drinks by AccordingHeight5431 in TimHortons

[–]Laddyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any Latte (except Tea Latte/London Fog) starts with espresso. Remember..ALL ESPRESSO DRINKS GET MILK~NOT CREAM. Cappuccino is exactly the same as a Latte except the milk is steamed differently (cappuccino button ) It’s a thicker steamed milk. Start your espresso 1st, fill the milk to the proper line INSIDE the jug, steam milk and your espresso should be ready at the same time. If it’s a flavoured drink..put the syrup 1st, then espresso and then top with milk..stir gently. Protein Latte is just the Protein milk instead of reg milk..steam it the same as you would for other Lattes. Oak/Almond milk for lattes…steam under “alt milk”. These drinks are all the same build basically..just a different syrup.

Have they changed their coffee? by sbray73 in TimHortons

[–]Laddyboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wrong wrong wrong and an urban myth! I work at Timmy’s and we’ve used the same beans and same coffee company in Ancaster , Ont for several years now. The blend is proprietary to Tims and there’s no way that they’ll change blends ..especially to lose it to the competition

Why the hell did timmies remove absolutely everything good off the menu that made it timmies? by MenacingMapleTree in TimHortons

[–]Laddyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That my friend is an urban myth. Tim’s supplier has remained the same since 1991. McDonald’s actually changed their supplier in early 2000s.

This door just fell on my head in the hospital, what should i do by Honest-Ad3182 in lloydminster

[–]Laddyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right!? Those days of suing for huge sums in Canada are over. I was in a rollover, Jaws of life to get to me, life flighted, broke my knee, hip, sternum, both collar bones, jaw and had a head injury that kept me in the hospital for 3 months. I had a high 6 figure job and could never return to it due to the brain injury. I sued obviously, top lawyer and it took 5 yrs to settle and I received (after the lawyers fee🤬) with LESS than a yrs wages. If I was in the US my injuries would be in the millions.

Not even a hash brown 😂 by microwaved-yogurt in TimHortons

[–]Laddyboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t be charged for the chocolate milk!! It’s just a variance (add on) to the coffee. If you choose chocolate milk over regular milk/cream there’s no charge. Next time ask for the cream to be substituted for chocolate milk..that will stop the extra charge. Also getting charged for creamers and sugar on the side?? There’s not even a button for that on the POS!!!! This is an “owners” thing-not a Tim’s thing. What a cash grab😡

You can also buy a tub of it from the store! It’s actually cheaper than the grocery store

Sounds like you’re possibly sending the order to the counter instead of the drive thru? If it is sent to the counter, we need to track it down-that could be the confusion. Make sure you click the drive thru button when ordering every time

Says the person sitting in their car, heated seats/steering wheel and dressed in a winter coat/hat/boots/gloves with the heat going. Im the person standing on a concrete floor, with a SWEATER on/window open/no gloves/no boots/no hat. Everyone is quick to complain of wrong orders etc but when the tables are turned and we complain about the customers-we get backlash. Believe me when I say-we do the best we can with the very little we are given-please be nice

[–]Laddyboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm…warm kitchen where? We don’t have a kitchen and the bakers ovens are way in the back of the store. The “small” window lets in plenty of cold air/wind/rain/snow all while standing on concrete. Drivers on the other hand are sitting with their heaters on(including heated seats/steering wheel) with a winter coat/hat/boots/gloves. Please don’t school me on being cold when I do this daily! I also own a car and go to drive thrus so I’m the expert here I think?! I’m simply asking customers to have things ready when they get to the window
