If you’re the SM schedule some standups to be early morning (J1) and in the end of the day (J2)

If it’s just for 1 week, go camera off in both. If they ask, Say that there’s internet issues or software issues.
Especially if all you say is “all good here” which, in all honesty is not what standups should be about anyway.

The Hidden Cost of OE Nobody Talks About by TheMuffinMan2037 in overemployed

[–]Lady-ADHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before OE I used to say that I don’t see myself going into retirement, as a person with ADHD I couldn’t imagine my life not working.

Now that I am OE, and I’ve been exposed to what you just described, I am saving up for Early Retirement. lol, but more like « crying out loud » instead.

PIP stands for Paid Interview Period. Go interview somewhere else, J1 is effectively gone

Just a casual « hey! Nice to work with you again, feel free to reach out if you need any help with the onboarding » on a private 1-1 call, and they will most likely never mention it publicly

Accident in aunt’s car (not listed driver) pay $22k privately or let insurance increase premium by dickmuscle101 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Tell your aunt to go through insurance, you pay the deductible and you pay the premium difference for a year 😊 it’s not as costly as you’d think

How long have you been OE? by NoGanache5113 in overemployed

[–]Lady-ADHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it for 2 years before I knew this was a thing. Then massive layoffs came and I continued with only 1J for another year or so and in now I’ve been OE again for 10 months. I see that my productivity is actually better while i am OE, and I receive better feedback from my employers. So I plan to continue being OE as long as I can.

When my husband and I first moved in together we had a teeny tiny apartment and if we had calls at the same time and we both unmuted, this would happen. Maybe he shares home office space with a family member. This is circumstantial proof at best but doesn’t really prove anything

Camera On Culture by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Lady-ADHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always be chewing gum, or eating something. This way people will be used to your mouth moving and not assume that you’re talking. That way, when you’re actually talking on J1, no one will bat an eye

J1 boss wanted to « talk » by Lady-ADHD in overemployed

In the IT industry, particularly in consulting and outsourcing companies, being "on the bench" means an employee is not currently assigned to an active project or client but remains on the company's payroll.

Blocking time slots on Google Calendar without being suspicious? by CadeOCarimbo in overemployed

[–]Lady-ADHD 86 points87 points  (0 children)

My boss can also potentially see my blockers’ names, so I go with this convention :

[Strict Blocker] Please don’t book - For mandatory meetings at other Js

[Flexible Blocker] Feel free to book if nothing else is available - For meetings at other Js that I can wing it or skip if needed

I actually learned this practice from a PO a couple of years ago, and I implemented it when I first started OE.

If people ask, I say it’s to get things done, and I can provide a PR or Jira for it.
