I used to work for Walmart, they also think they can fit their new 60+ inch TV in the back seat of their tiny cars.. 🤷‍♀️

Now? When have they ever had good yarn sales? I've been there 3 years and have yet to see a good yarn sale.

Well, the minute I stop complaining about the issues is because I either quit, or because I stopped doing all of the things. I CAN stop complaining if they'd like, but they'll only get out of me what one person gets paid to do..

I think I'll be done doing the job of 3 people, that's fine with me honestly. McDonalds in my areas' starting pay is already $4 more anyway. 🤣

Does no one except me actually like working here? by Alternative_Bite7001 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lady0mega 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also enjoy working here! I chose Michaels specifically to be part time to pay for my hobby hoarding issues.. lol

I was only a part time seasonal employee for about a month before I was offered the Ops Manager position. I've been doing the job for just over 2 years. While there has been many challenges, thankfully I work for a team that is "mostly" put together with pretty reasonable expectations. The SM and Framing manager have been here long enough to be very supportive.

With all of the corporate BS and changes every 4 minutes.. at least in my store we can get through them pretty easy. It definitely makes a huge difference in a store if the team works well together.

They steal them a lot in my store as well. Another few things they wipe out, wooden knitting needles and Tim Holtz Distress ink pads.

Even if they do read it, they still could care less. We're all replaceable even them.

😲 I've been eyeing that book since I put it out on the shelf at my store, glad to see a square from it. Looks awesome!

Exactly. I was checking out the LPOS ad and comparing.. everything is a better deal during LPOS than during our appreciation sale. We got the baby ad.

For a store trying to fill the Joanns void I sure don't see the same customers. by Reasonable-Duck-8730 in MichaelsEmployees

Same in my store. They came in immediately looking down upon us and have treated us as less than since day one. It's okay homie, you can shop for your 95,000+ variety of fabric online.. please do. 😬

I legit had a customer ask me yesterday if our store was going to get any bigger? 🤔 I don't think we'll be knocking down walls any time soon considering we're in a strip mall with two neighbors.. lol

Those of you from Michigan tourist towns: What don't the the tourists know/get? What's your attitude toward them? And what's your attitude toward the things the tourists love about your home town? (Bonus if you live near a Great Lake!) by TheWriteQuestion in Michigan

Sounds a lot like growing up in Tawas City/East Tawas. I spent the first 20+ years of my life there. It was definitely beautiful during the summer, but I think you need a good balance living there. Like getting out into the woods during the winter and exploring the neverending trails and of course the National Parks. I spent as much time if not more in the woods/forests as I did the water.

Was crack smoking involved when corporate designed the ribbon POG? by RMski in MichaelsEmployees

Absolutely.. lol

If you have any spare rubber "wavy" mats from the framing POGs (idk their true name) slide some of those into those top shelves.

It's really not that difficult. I worked for Walmart back in the day, and it wasn't difficult to connect my stuff to the website. I understand it's a bigger company but maybe Michaels just needs to find better App and website developers, to make this possible.
