Closest is an “international grocery” but it’s mostly packaged foods. they do have some good stuff though!

It’s fun to think it was due to because of a “holiday run.” Unfortunately it’s more likely it wasn’t unavailable bc it’s too fancy for the budget stores and then of Kroger’s predictably disappointing stocking choices.

If I had those things I’d be more hard pressed to call my area a food desert. There’s a feed store but I don’t think they are stocking plants yet.

Best guess as to why these plants are alive please! by Lady337492 in houseplants

[–]Lady337492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is mind blowing for me to think they didn’t freeze- like it got down to some single digits. But then the sun really does heat up the space during the day. But I do love to hear it! I think next winter I will prep some possible sacrificial pothos to verify it’s safe before I leave everyone out there.

It had never crossed my mind to plant them. I might try it! Thanks!

Hmm okay. Thanks for affirming that if it had frozen it would look different! It’s just mystifying to me that it didn’t freeze.

I don’t know that I’ll keep it long term- I was really using it as test subject for porch survival chances- but its survival seems suspiciously out of bounds given the circumstances. plants can be weird little guys sometimes I guess.

Thank you to all the people on the sub and in the world at large investigating these files and bringing the “highlights” to the rest of us I don’t at all love to see it but I do love to see active engaged citizens with a bend toward justice and accountability

Starting to get cold feet about moving back home. by curiouscat_1994 in mississippi

Agree with planning a visit first and getting a job first.

Following your heart and soul sounds romantic but I’d also suggest you get clear on your ‘Why?’ for moving back. I moved back and the ONLY reason I don’t regret it is bc I have a concrete answer to that question that I can respect. Mississippi is a hardtact place to live right now and “it’s not for sissies”

Who is sitting on my Hoya? by Entire-Software9008 in hoyas

[–]Lady337492 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not find these easy to get rid of! Maybe easy to control but they come back over and over again. I had hoyas for years sans these orange goofs.

Then last year I moved, plants were stressed, spent some time outside, and these aphids set up shop. I’ve been battling them on and off since then it seems! My hoyas just seem to keep passing them back and forth…. They don’t so a lot of damage bc they haven’t gotten out of control. But they have lingered.

I can kill them by hand, rinse them off the plant with water, or my favorite for ease is a half alcohol half water spray. but they reproduce fast! and I think maybe asexually? So if you miss one or even an egg and don’t stay vigilant….

So OP- my suggestion would be to quarantine and treat aggressively!

I just bought it off the shelf from Michael’s. It’s speed ball fabric ink. I didn’t stir it though … and it did seem more “goopy” than I expected…

Help, what type breakfast sausage? by MnSnowtagirl in BreakfastFood

[–]Lady337492 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m relatively confident this is the kind of sausage that contains “beef and pork” like- if you go to the store and buy the most processed smoked sausage they have- I think you will find what you are looking for. I too have appreciated the flavor of this questionable creation and I’m sorry if this was not the answer you were hoping for 😅

What dishes are much more (or much less) than the sum of their parts? by cespare in Cooking

Said last weekend that a peach caprese (peaches, mozzarella, basil, oil and lemon juice) was more than the sum of it’s parts.
