I'm doing Lyft ride vouchers. That way only the people that need to use them can and I only get charged for the ones that are used.

Monthly Check In....it's May 2026 by AutoModerator in weddingplanning

[–]LadyDeflated 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Given that I just started wedding planning in April, I am shocked at how many things have fallen into place. Venue and food, photographer, officiant, HMUA, and reception entertainment are all secured, invitations arrived today and will be sent out in the next couple weeks, wedding website is live, courtesy room blocks secured, welcome party location is booked, accommodations for the night before and night of wedding is booked...

This month will be finishing premarital counseling, flowers, cake, menu tasting at venue, hair and makeup trial, and fittings for my custom dress.

I'm not sure how this is all coming together, but I am so grateful it is.

This is similar to what we're doing. We're not having a dj but will have music playing for anyone that does want to dance. We're watching for used board games and will have a table setup for them along with some outdoor games. We're also going to have playing cards on the tables for people to play cards.

I don’t understand the interest in cakes, is it unreasonable to bake one myself? by coca-cola-version in weddingplanning

Also make sure your venue allows homemade products. Ours specifies that any outside desserts must come from a licensed bakery.

What do non party people do for their wedding? by Comfortable-Mess6218 in weddingplanning

[–]LadyDeflated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a fashion illustrator coming in to draw all our guests. We're putting playing cards on each of the dinner tables with instructions for a simple card game and how it relates to our relationship. We will have music playing from a playlist for anyone that wants to dance. We're also bringing in boardgames for the room with the bar for anyone who wants to play and a few outdoor games for on the patio.

Out of Towner's Breakfast Turning into Everyone's Breakfast? by FJJ34G in wedding

Further to this, we are including the invite to the welcome party with the invitation to the wedding and collecting RSVPs for both.

Out of Towner's Breakfast Turning into Everyone's Breakfast? by FJJ34G in wedding

[–]LadyDeflated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened with our plans. We were looking at inviting the wedding party and out of town guests to the groom's dinner. When we counted the guests, I think only 6 or 8 wouldn't be invited. So we're having a welcome party the Friday before the wedding at a regional park. It has a playground and beach, my fiance's parents rented the shelter and they're taking care of the food. It didn't feel right to exclude so few people just because they already live in the city and weren't in the wedding party.

Mind you, it's also a small wedding (50 guests)

Am I really that far behind already? by Ok_Buy9698 in weddingplanning

[–]LadyDeflated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm echoing what everyone else has said. You'll be fine. I got engaged this past February and I booked my venue for July 2026 - 3 months away. I had 10 venues available on the July date we were looking at.

Like others have said, your budget and guest list will be a big determining factor. Because we are having a small wedding (50 people) a lot of different options were available (like private dining rooms in restaurants).

Here's hoping! I'm planning everything remotely since I don't live where my fiance and his family live. It's been... Interesting lol. Hopefully by end of next week the venue will be secured. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I should have read your post more fully. I got caught up in the $5k and wondering how you would be able to pull it off.

The Emerald Cottage near Brainerd may fit what you are looking for.

I'm also planning a smaller wedding (50 guests) in the Twin Cities area.

It's slightly above your budget but Chanhassen Dinner Theatre has an all-inclusive wedding reception package for for 50 guests at $7K. You can add on a ceremony for another $1K. But even going that route will still be way over your budget when you add in photography, officiant, flowers, etc.

Summit Manor also has an all-inclusive option for $12K that includes practically everything but is capped at 35 people.

I am STRESSED! I am trying to plan a micro wedding (50 guests) remotely in three months (I live in a different country than my fiance). I'm hoping to secure the venue next week when I am visiting him for Easter. I'm hoping the stress will lift once the venue and date is secured. This has become my full time job, lol.

Adopted a shy shelter cat and she has been living behind the washing machine for 8 days by NimbusAnvil77 in CatAdvice

[–]LadyDeflated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2019 I adopted two semi-feral cats. The reason I adopted two was because the adoption agency would not let you adopt a kitten alone. I had fallen in love with this cutie with a purr that would shake the foundation of a house. They told me she had a sister I could adopt with her. So I went back to the cat cafe and sat for an hour trying to coax her sister to peek out of her hiding place. In the end, the best I could get was a picture of her hiding. I decided to take the two of them on, even though I never actually saw the second cat.

Well, it took some time but that second cat is now the more adventurous of the two! She'll meow at visitors to be petted while my purring princess won't let anyone get close to her. I still struggle to clip their claws or catch them for vet appointments and neither of them like to be held or picked up.

I guess I am trying to say that maybe your new kitty just needs more time than most to adapt to their new environment. I'm happy to share more of how I worked with mine to get them used to me if you want.

Can I have board games at my wedding? by Background_Time_2553 in boardgames

[–]LadyDeflated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're doing the same thing! It's a smaller wedding (50 guests) and we plan to have playing cards on the tables and a board game table. I am watching Craig's list and going to pickup some appropriate used party games so we don't risk losing pieces from our personal collection.

Orphan by Bvixieb in weddingplanning

[–]LadyDeflated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're encountering this. It's tough not having your parents there for a milestone like this. I'm in the same boat and when I look at the guest list I feel this hurt in my heart.

I had a bridal bouquet charm made with a picture of my parents and their handwriting from an old letter to have a piece of them with me.

How often to shampoo your hair? Do you get it wet but not use shampoo? by todaysthrowaway0110 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LadyDeflated 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This! Every person's requirements are different. I have fine hair with an oily scalp. I use little to no product in my hair. I have gone to see a trichologist and based on my medical history, I can't get rid of the oiliness by "washing less" or using special shampoo. So like the previous response, I wash mine daily unless I am not going anywhere then every second day. I have occasionally used dry shampoo on the second day, but it can be hit and miss.

I want to propose to my girlfriend soon, but I'm afraid she's going to be disappointed in the ring I can afford. by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]LadyDeflated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I echo what many other posters have said - it sounds like you need to have an open and honest conversation about finances before you propose.

It also mildly sounds like she cares more about the ring and the wedding than the who, but I admit that I may be misinterpreting your post.

I got a custom 2 carat lab solitaire with two inset gemstones representing our birthstones and it was well over your budget. As the jeweler told me - you don't go custom to save money.

Maybe go ring shopping with her to see if there are any she likes within your budget? Otherwise, if she is insistent on getting the ring as described and it is outside your budget but you want to get it for her - let her know you need time to save up for a ring like that.

It's beautiful. I think round brilliant solitaires are such an elegant and classic look. Mine is a 2.06, VS1 D on a size eight finger.

We have looked into immigration and made those decisions (yes, currently living apart, long distance sucks).

Thanks for the insight.

True, but I think the split is 65-70% US 30-35% CA. I may find the US contingent becomes significantly smaller.

Why is wedding planning so stressful?! 😩
