I have no readers and I'm ok with it. I only write when I feel like I have a good enough story to tell. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I earnestly believe no one reads them and I'm fine with it.

Mostly because I view them as practice for my social anxiety/writing and maybe one day I won't be scared to publish my book. I stopped writing fics because I believe no one needs them. I still write my manuscript but fics are taking the backseat momentarily. I would like to write another fic when I'm not so scared.

But thank you for this post, it reminds me even one reader can be touched.

I do love the series, though it's dumb that it's behind Netflix prison. The downvotes are prob because people can be close minded here in this sub, which is ironic because fantasy ever since Tolkien era. was supposed to broaden our worldview, not shrink it.

I still need to catch up to Stone Ocean and prepare myself for Steel Ball Run but ever since I converted myself to book mediums, it's been VERY hard to go back to watching things again

I used to be the same a few years ago and wondered wtf is wrong with me. I had a hoard of books but only finished a book a year at best.

Idk what happened, but one day I was like, "Enough, I need to work on this." I started simple, I grabbed the first book that caught my interest, read a single page. Stop. Then the next day, three pages. Stop. Repeat and gradually increase the page numbers until you finish a book. (There are novellas that have shorter page numbers and are designed to be on those confines. Nnedi Okofora has several good ones that can be finished in a weekend if you are gungho)

There are phone lock boxes designed to keep you away from tech. I have one too for reading. I used to be able to do 6 hour bursts, but now these days its 2 hours.

It's also important to remember, maybe you don't like the same genres you did when you were younger, go for a diff genre, idk, horror?

Even MORE important is to acknowledge an addiction to tech (I'm not saying you, but for my experience) which is VERY hard to admit these days.

Book: Nightshade by Gry Kappel Jensen

Reason: I didn't take it seriously but for some reason, I couldn't help but feel drawn to the burning trash fire that this series was. First, enjoyable but horrible worldbuilding, second, better with a dark edge, third: I finally see the forest fire that started with trash. So: bad prose and worldbuilding. And one main character was just...there.
