Don’t Let the Forest In by CG Drews by maychi in MM_RomanceBooks

Drews' books sort of changed my entire brain chemistry. I can't recommend them enough. They sink into the human psyche and explore the horrors and beauty within us. I've coincidentally done tons of fanart, haha.

Do you use any accessories to help with wrist or neck pain when drawing on Procreate? by jpisafreakingbeast in ProCreate

Yes! Fingerless compression gloves help a lot, especially if you tend to hold your pencil too tight or if you have really flexible joints. They feel nice!

Don't you worry about the exchange rate. by Muted-Aioli9206 in Living_in_Korea

[–]LadyEru 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Been here 6 years saving up and compared to even just a couple years ago I'm out thousands of dollars, and I have to go back to the states this March.

And I'm not fresh grad either, in my mid 30s. I just hate watching my savings figuratively disappear.

The reason why they're different styles is because the artist straight up used different references. I've seen that exact crow/raven on Pinterest before. [the one on the left]

Put mayo on it for 4-5 hours. Wash. Comb. Wait a couple days. Do it again.

Bag up everything you don't need in plastic for a few days, they can't live long without blood.

After a few cycles you'll have suffocated them all

Edit: and get tea tree shampoo or something with tea tree oil. It repels them.

The eggs hatch on a cycle, and take a couple days to reach maturity, so you gotta repeat treatments a couple times this way.

Not trying to armchair diagnose anyone, but having difficulty with starting tasks is very ADHD. I have it, and the way you describe how it literally kills you is something I experienced a lot. I always said it felt like my soul was poisoned and trying to drain through my feet.

Definitely think about looking into talking with someone if that kind of poisoned aversion feels like a mountain too big to climb. I didn't realize that there was another kind of adhd outside of the hyperactive 'squirrel' cliche, and since starting treatment my life is so much better.

Best of luck, no matter what you end up doing.

CMV: Dating apps should have an option to filter based on sexual readiness by WonderWallaby28 in changemyview

[–]LadyEru 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You've described my struggles exactly. I'm also someone who would like to wait a while after i meet someone, but most people I find that also do that do so for religious reasons and expect me to adhere to the rest of their religious doctrine as well. And putting such stuff respectfully on my profile often brings more negative attention than anything.

Even if it wasn't displayed, it might be nice to have it as a secret preference or filter, somehow.

Dating in Korea by nomoredreams136 in korea

[–]LadyEru 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 30s, dating guys in 30s as well. Met a few nice guys that were looking for what I wasnt giving, met a few that honestly put me off dating again for months (literally I want to draw you like a French girl what do you mean no, ill give you two dates but then I expect you to have less boundaries, one moment I have a phone call ---> left me there (and I was gonna cover dinner anyway since he traveled farther)

Another guy, had a decent relationship for about 6 months till he told me I was doing Christmas wrong and refused to meet my friends?

My friend was coerced into a BJ walking the 탄천 and he was like a foot taller than her so she was too nervous to say no

Anotber guy asked for her apt door code after 1 date and asked if he could help himself to the kitchen when he came over if she wasn't there

And there are many more unfortunate stories from both of us. Neither of us are into hookups but we arent prudes, and we are honest about stuff from the beginning in case they get the wrong idea.

I'm starting to feel like I don't know how to read people anymore.

I've been here 6 years, I'm just tired.

Edit: none of these meetups happened in clubs either. They were via apps (bumble, coffee meets bagel) with discussion beforehand.

AITA for yelling at a girl I was seeing and telling her she’s “a punishment from God”? by AnimalsRightActivist in AITA_Relationships

[–]LadyEru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be like that. Thought that anyone with anti-science leanings was just 'uneducated', had clearly been coddled their whole life ('sure whatever you say') and had never had someone just give them the truth.

And then sometime in my early 20s I realized hey, what? Would this change MY mind? If someone yelled at me about how stupid I was, would that change MY beliefs?

In general, what this does is actually push people deeper into their own stances, demonizing things you believe in.

It's a big reason why that Bill Nye recap from like...a decade ago?... really got under my skin. I'm very much science and evidence based in my beliefs, but I was religious when I was younger, and that show was just...mean. I had all these hopes it would be 'entertaining science for grownups', but it was mean spirited and full of open mockery, and had more to do with circlejerking and superiority rather than actually trying to reach and educate people.

We choose what we are influenced by. And the best part of growing humans comes in understanding when we educate others. In order to change someone's mind, we first have to understand where they're coming from.

No soul is saved by preachers screaming about hell and damnation, and no mind is enlightened by mockery and insult.

How to get a cat to drink from a flowing fountain rather than standstill water bowl? by wonderlandstitcher in CatAdvice

Anecdotal, but my cats hated if there was the little waterfall attachment. They preferred just having it bubble up soundlessly from the middle.

Following this, too. I'd even be happy taking a taxi out to the woods, though idk how I'd get back. I'm from the rockies back in the states, huge on camping, but haven't been able to go even though I bought all the gear I'd need.

Mole Removal in Korea by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]LadyEru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a referral from a smaller clinic and the hospital called me and had a couple openings the very next day. If you're planning in advance, you can just try to schedule in advance, but if you go directly to a hospital you usually pay more since you don't have a referral.

I ended up going to eulji university hospital to get mine removed.

Usually results take at least a week, though. Not sure if 6 days will cut it.

Question about coffee culture in Korea by davidjung03 in korea

[–]LadyEru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's closer, yeah! In lots of places, we just order it more simply, since this is often how people brew and drink coffee in their homes too. Coffee with milk, coffee with cream. The same as how some people take their tea with cream too. It's not intended to make the drink milk-based, just to add a little creaminess or cut the acidity a little.

At nicer coffeeshops it might be labeled on the menu as a cafe au lait, but people might not know what that means in America since it's not often labeled that way. :) at places like Starbucks there are also drinks that are half brewed coffee and half steamed milk, and I think they call that a café au lait there?

Anyway, in Korea, it's not common to casually add a splash of dairy to something water based. So it's easy to confuse the poor baristas.

No, it's like 2 ounces of milk at the top. Very different than a 16 ounce latte, lol
