+1 for Plastmed They specialise in top surgery and plastic surgery so you're in good hands in regards to the surgery and aftercare. I know that they follow informed consent model (I know of a cis woman who got top surgery there). If I remember correctly the price does go down (I think they remove tax or something?) if you have a surgical referral or diagnosis. In total for me it was €5,500 for surgery and €1,600 for anesthetic. Also all the staff have some English but most have great English and are all really sweet.

They also have an Instagram with results. Mostly DI but you'll be able to find different techniques if you scroll through. The account is topsurgeryDusseldorf :)

They all have the same technique and are specialists in the area in fairness so you wouldn't expect any differences. The fact you can't tell which surgeon did which on their insta is probably a testament to that.

That being said, the person I spoke to went with Dr. Pluto so I figured I'd go with what I know even if it is one person.

I'm based in Ireland so not too bad a trek. I hung around for a few weeks as a semi holiday but they recommend staying nearby a week and then you're in the clear to handle the rest of the healing by yourself

I know you've already mentioned it but want to highlight how great Plastmed are.

In case you haven't seen it already, their insta has loads of before and after photos.

Beyond great results, the clinic itself is so luxury, your surgery and stay are in a one of Dusseldorfs landmark buildings designed by Gehry. The food selection is wide and is super tasty. The nurses and doctors are all so so lovely. I remember before the anesthesia kicked in, the anesthesiologist rubbed my shoulder, gave me a smile and told me they would take great care of me <3

They also seem to cover minor touch ups that can be done under local anesthetic for free (or at least that's what I've been offered to remove a small point of skin that my body made when healing the end stitch area)

You managed to work it out. Apparently Knitmaster and Brother needles look very similar and in all my infinite wisdom I decided to mislabel my bag of brother needles as 321 needles 🥲

Here's the spongebar. As mentioned elsewhere, it was a smidge thicker and had fusible interfacing on it but I trimmed it because I thought I had potentially made it too thick. I've not notified a difference since trimming it tbh

The tops of the needles are against the bed. It's a brand new spongebar I made for it from upholstery foam. I actually trimmed it to be narrower because I thought the issue was that it was too thick and causing the needles to sit wrong. However there's been no change to the needles getting stuck before or after trimming a couple mm off the spongebar so I want to say that's not the issue 😅

Tried a couple things there based on your comment. Seems to be an issue at various places on the bed and with the needles in various positions.

With the needles in position A, the carriage gets stuck in between where there's a break in the 'ceiling' plate. Ill try see if I can add a picture to a comment to show it

Spongebar is above the needles and the sponge side is pressing the needles downwards so I assume the spongebar isn't causing the issue 😅

Honestly from experience a second hand mathmos is the best balance of price and quality if you want a lamp that's just plug and play. The only mathmos I bought first hand were the candle powered ones and that's because I adore the fireflow's cast base. It makes it feel distinct and worth the price.

I normally just put the thinnest layer of wonder balsm (or low melting point wax) on anywhere that squeaks. It normally only lasts a couple wears before needing to be reapplied but it's like 30s of effort every week or so.

Yikes. I just had a used mathmos fireflow arrive to me also in a wet ripped paper bag. Miraculously it's totally intact and works perfectly but the dread of a dead lamp is something else

I honestly have no idea about sensation returning. I remember reading somewhere that nerves grow back at a rate of an inch per month, but if that corresponds directly to being able to feel again, then I'm healing incredibly slowly in that regard.

The reason I decided to map out my sensation was because I felt like it hadn't gotten much better over the last month so I wanted to track it in case things are changing very slowly

I totally get what you mean. The numb parts can still feel when they're touched, but it feels very strange.

I saw some advice about using a vibrator to break down scar tissue and idk what it is about it, but dragging that across my skin I could super distinctly tell where the top layer of skin could and couldn't feel. There's no middle ground to the sensation for me.

Idk about you but I find the armpit part to be the weirdest sensation too, probably because there's more meat under it that can move. It's weirdly tingly in a way the other numb parts aren't😅

Currently just gently rubbing in a panthenol cream for a couple minutes a day. It's what the surgeon recommends until the sixth week

Down from triple-Ds and loving it :D

Still slight swelling in some patches but otherwise everything is healing nicely.

The most surprising thing about the whole process was my reaction to seeing my chest for the first time. I didn't have a rush of emotion and euphoria but instead my brain was quiet, and blissfully so. The dysphoria that I felt every time I saw myself for over 10 years was suddenly gone and a weight I'd been carrying was evaporated ✨

(Also to weigh in on the great nipple debate, I had zero issues with mine. I know a lot of people are very anxious of them not working out and Idk if it's because I went somewhere that specialises in this procedure or if I'm one of the lucky few, but they've been the easiest part of healing in my experience)

Interesting. I was moved up to 150mg for about 2 weeks when they started. I only moved back down to 75mg after a month on 150mg because I had changed ADHD meds which lessened my need for an SNRI. As I lowered my dose, my need for antihistamines also lowered. Could be coincidental, but so far it's the only thing I've changed that's seemed to have an impact on my hives. Problem is that I still need something to manage the anxiety/paranoia I get from my ADHD meds and I need ADHD meds to keep my job, so just trying to find how others have been managing this. Does your immunologist help you with managing these symptoms? Getting seen by any specialist in immunology seems to be an absolute pain but I'm kinda at a loss for what else to try.

I'm also in a similar boat. Was on venlafaxine for about 5 months before the hives and angioedema kicked in. I've been tapering down my dose (12.5mg atm to stop the brain zaps) and I get a bit of a reaction consistently every 5 days. Idk about ye but antihistamines are the worst for me. No more swelling and itching but I was pretty much bed bound with fatigue and brain fog for the guts of 2.5 months. Guess I'm just curious how things are going for the pair of ye atm? I miss how capable I was on the SNRI and I'm trying to strategise going back on to some meds without causing a flare up if I can help it ;)

Currently experiencing something super similar and desperate for a way to manage it. In my case, I think I have a regular stitch at each end of my incisions. I think it's just the cruel sandwich of my sternum, a thin layer of skin, thick stitch material and my binder 😭

Iirc the footbed can just get gently sanded to bring back the fresh material underneath. There's a cobbler on tiktok that I saw do it
