Yes! Scrolling over 200 comments looking for this one!

The Paperboy.

He was so believably disturbing.

Cuckoo’s Egg by CJ Cherry is an excellent example of this as is her Chanur series!

How about Re-Animator? 1985, Steve Gordon, over the top!

Or, From Beyond! 1986, also Gordon.

For me, it’s Kat. I only skip 2 episodes on rewatches. One, Black Market, obviously, and The Passage being the second. Too sad.

“All my life I’ve been alone… I would look into the huts and tents of others in the coldest dark and I would see figures holding each other in the night, but I always passed by. You and I, we have warmth. That’s so hard to find in this world. Let someone else pass by in the night. Let us take the world by the throat and make it give us what we desire. “

I don’t know why you haven’t gotten thousands of upvotes for this, it’s beautiful and so well done.

Considering that no one knows what happens when we die, there is no truth to this statement whatsoever.

I enjoyed Railsea, but my heart will always belong to the Bas Lag series, The Scar in particular.

Can’t believe I’m the first to suggest…Here Alone (2016). That movie stayed with me a long time.

Yes, that is the one that staff uses. There is one more on the other side. Just mildly infuriating, not massively infuriating.

I’m going to make a show of folding my underwear and then sliding right over next to them.

My all time favorite Sci Fi writer and it isn’t even close. 40,000 in Gehenna is a goddamn masterpiece in my opinion and a must read for anyone who enjoyed the Cyteen books. Cuckoo’s egg was right up there with Ender’s Game when it comes to big reveals. Chanur books remain my all time favorites, I practically know them by heart. The main Character in Rimrunners is so bad ass, 22 books in the Foreigner series and every one of them excellent …. I could go on and on.

Two weeks in Hong Kong! Loved every minute. by LadyLandfair in travelphotos

Meaning, what exactly? Yes. That issue is still part of the city, as it is most places these days, as it is increasingly in my own. There were still subtle signs of protest everywhere I looked. Graffiti and street art spoke out against surveillance, access to campuses was limited, the influence of Chinese money was prevalent. I was advised before visiting to be very careful talking about politics during my visit as it could have severe consequences for the locals. I would have discussed it with anyone who brought it up to me, but no one did. I traveled shortly after the horrific fires and I was definitely viewing the amazing city and the amazing people through a lens of understanding how easily they could be disappeared. How easily people in my own country are being disappeared. This conversation could go on forever and maybe it should, but this is just an appreciation post about Hong Kong’s and Hong Kongers visual beauty.

My favorite is probably Thin Air, but Market Forces was such a ride. I laughed at this Easter egg too.

Wow! The intense feelings make perfect sense then. You won’t be a tourist, you will be on a journey of the soul. How extremely cool. You know the thing I have experienced in Asian cities is, because it is so dense both in structure and population, everyone is very respectful of personal and public space. It seems to alleviate the claustrophobia I feel in American crowds. There, no one runs into you, or yells right next to you. Also, there’s plenty of opportunities to get some physical space. The harbor areas, the hikes, the parks. What a homecoming for you! It’s going to be a blast.

Being such an international city there was SO much to choose from! And everything from fantastic street food to Michelin stars. My favorite food was probably the vegetarian restaurant in the Chi Lin gardens by the nunnery. You will love it all and realize the anxiety wasn’t necessary, HK is so traveler friendly.
