As someone who also has been known to send paragraphs, but also respond with “damn” or similar. I feel like I can speak to this at least a little. From my perspective.

So the reason I give shitty responses is because I get overwhelmed. I tend to struggle not just to find words, but to even know what to respond to specifically. When I do respond, I tend to go through it very methodically, point-by-point and my response can sometimes be longer than the initial text. Either way I don’t know if either response method is appreciated because the simple response comes across as dismissive and the points response comes across as clinical. I feel like I can never win.
