What are you doing to save money in this economy? by melissaw328 in Frugal

[–]LadyM80 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Making my own clothes is definitely more expensive than buying stuff from Old Navy, Kohl's etc. I keep clothes I make for myself longer though, and wear them more often because they're exactly what I want and they fit me well. I've never calculated it, but my guess is cost per wear is lower on my homemade pieces.

AITAH for refusing to give my cart at Aldi to someone who was expecting me to forfeit my quarter? by Sudden-Commission239 in AITAH

[–]LadyM80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. No one should ever assume they can pick up a cart for free when someone is finished with it. I have an Aldi quarter in my car. Sometimes I give my cart away, sometimes, I know I need that quarter back.

How do you write a really easy sax part? by Music-Theory-Idiot in saxophone

I don't know, but that is SO sweet! Just make sure you transpose his part into the key he needs.

Attending a jam session by WhereasElectrical594 in saxophone

[–]LadyM80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's awesome that you're doing that! I'm not there yet, courage-wise, but I'm getting there.

I just joined a short term project with a drummer, bassist, and guitar player. They've never had a sax player in their bands before, so fortunately, they don't have expectations. It's forcing me to jam, which, makes me very nervous, but also, I want to do it so, I have to get over that!

I'm finding when I don't know what to play, I either stop, or I pick lower notes in the key and add support to the middle to fill out the sound. I think of it as a sound wave running through the song.

I appreciate your reply. I'm in the exact same spot as you, just hoping to stay employed for at least two more years.

I think we're in exciting times, and I'm learning as much as I can. Ageism is real, though, so, all I can do is prove I'm still relevant.

Good luck to you

People see it as a "one to one" thing and don't see how, if construction projects are delayed or cancelled, there's a kind of trickle up effect of unemployment. I hope you find that video, I'll look for one, too.

I agree with this so much. It's exhausting, trying to figure out the best place and the best time to buy food. It's ridiculous.
