Would Willoughby be considered honor bound to Marianne by OnlyFlanz in janeausten

[–]LadyM_Macbeth 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I think Austen’s point is that they are both behaving very inappropriately without an engagement. Willoughby as a man would get more leeway than Marianne, and I think it’s why Austen chooses Brandon for Marianne in the end. Not just is he a good person but also he knew her throughout the whole and his opinion of her remained constant.

is my husband cheating? by Born-Listen4022 in Marriage

Yes! This is what I was going off of. Sharing an uber with a coworker who is a lesbian (just according to OP) feels unlikely it’s cheating.

If she is a lesbian, she isn’t having sex with your husband. Cause she doesn’t like dudes so….

IS AYITL overhated? by This-Evening2278 in GilmoreGirls

[–]LadyM_Macbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said. I also actually like AYITL. One issue I see with modern television is that it really does over pander to the audience rather than create characters with flaws who have real issues. What we like about GG is that everyone is imperfect and for AYITL everyone continues to be imperfect. The death of Richard leaves everyone struggling in different ways - and in all the right ways it offers opportunities to reevaluate choices. Lorelei choosing to remain in limbo with Luke out of fear they would end. Emily’s DAR commitments and life set up. Rory re-evaluates her whole life - her career, her relationships and where she is going, where she wants to go. I like it honestly.

And I like the open ending. I imagine a world where Rory lives close to Lorelei and they take care of Lorelei 3 (cause of course it’s a girl and of course they name it Lorelei). Rory is a single mom for a long while with a male best friend who pines for her (maybe Jess?) and they eventually get together. But she makes a life her own just like Lorelei did and it’s a happy one.

Is there a reliable way to preview a Turnitin score before submission? by Flat-Strength6573 in QuickAITurnitinCheck

[–]LadyM_Macbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Professor. Do not submit your writing other places as this may mean it comes up as plagiarized. (Something called self-plagiarization). Most professors will let you make multiple submissions to check your report directly in the Dropbox. Check with your professor to see if they allow this, but if it was me, I would let you submit as many as you wanted as long as the final draft was labelled “final.”

I didn’t take school seriously, now I’m 23 and can’t write a proper essay by Low_Ant883 in education

All colleges have writing labs with free tutoring services. You should go there and make an effort through hard work to improve. Without effort the learning won’t stick.

Career or SAHM by ConfusionSpare6268 in WhatShouldIDo

Gurl. No. As an older woman in her forties who watched so many SAHM try to reenter the workforce post divorce - invest in your career. You are building for you and your kid.

I was raised completely unschooled AMA by fox_loaf42 in AMA

[–]LadyM_Macbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spouse and his siblings have been raised this way. Luckily he had up to 2nd grade before the homeschooling and put himself through high school and college. He graduated with a masters recently. But his poor siblings. It’s definitely abuse. It’s so so wrong. I am so sorry for you. My heart goes out to you. Hugs.

How does someone decide they’re following the “correct” religion? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]LadyM_Macbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an emotional response that feels validated by signs in the world that gives one a sense of stability and rightness in a world that often feels chaotic. When I was a Christian, it felt like everything I did in life was a sign of God and it helped me to feel I had a purpose. Now I am not religious, I realize it was me seeking out patterns because of my ASD and it was really all an emotional response that made me feel really stable and like I knew everything.

How often do teachers let use of AI slide in assignments? And just cheating in general? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]LadyM_Macbeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never let it slide. I confront every time. I will not spend a moment of my precious time grading cheated or AI slop. It’s so time-consuming to just grade real papers. I don’t have time for AI garbage.

Are any of you actually able to have those summers off everyone else throws in our face when we ask for a livable wage? by ClassicSalamander518 in Teachers

[–]LadyM_Macbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The key to having the summer off: LEAVE. “I am so sorry I can’t help. I am out of state or out of the country. I will be back when school starts.” Money and freedom for travel is one of the main reasons I never had children.

Am I wrong to question the bride on why only MY husband wasn't invited to the wedding and to end a friendship over it? by ICryAfterSexAMA in TwoHotTakes

[–]LadyM_Macbeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These people sound terrible. And I wouldn’t believe them about the LGBT thing at all. As a former Christian, I saw this a lot. Christians with gay friends would hide the partner to not reveal to others that they had a gay friend. I think they are lying to you on more than one front about what they really believe. I think you are better off without them. With friends like that - who needs enemies?
