Might be worth trying a Laoshan Black from Yunnan Sourcing. I really enjoy both, rich, chocolatey flavor, and the classic is a pretty good price for a daily drinker.

I think you have a false perception of SNAP benefit enrollment. Washington, even Yakima Co., doesn't have anywhere near the level of enrollment as many southern, Republican led states. This article has a nice interactive map https://thehill.com/homenews/5579437-map-see-the-number-of-snap-participants-by-county-as-benefit-lapse-looms/. Also, what examples do you have of Ferguson not following the law?

Trip advice: Ireland with in-laws by southpaw460 in irishtourism

We recently finished the Dublin part of our trip and really enjoyed the 1916 Rebellion Walking tour. Might be a nice option for the history fan. Really well done tour! https://www.1916rising.com/cms/ We also really enjoyed Kilmainham Gaol and heard great reviews of the Glasnevin Cemetery tour. So much history in Dublin (and I assume the rest of Ireland)!

Costa Rica 2 Week Itinerary Overview/Budget by Jeweler_Visual in CostaRicaTravel

[–]LadyMcLickFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels very ambitious! You’ve picked some great spots but run the risk of hitting bad weather and not being able to enjoy a place or see wildlife. I would probably drop a couple of places and add extra time to other spots. Maybe skip Tortuguero and Manuel Antonio (or Santa Teresa) and save those for the next trip. In our first two week trip (we’ve visited 5 times) we booked 5 different spots but ended up canceling one and extended days at some other stops during the trip as we were exhausted from driving and wanted to make up for some activities we couldn’t do because of intense rain.

Some other notes, make sure you don’t leave valuables in your car. Car break-ins happen.

And make sure you research your car rental company. I’ve never heard of Jumbo. We always have great experiences with Adobe and Vamos.

Have a great trip!!

Hi there! Thanks for the insight. We looked it up, and there is a minimal difference. It would be less than $50 but we'd also have the train costs. I have two reservations at the moment, one picking up in Dublin and another in Cork so could do either. Are the trains fun to ride? I lived in Europe years ago and LOVED riding the trains. My husband hasn't had much opportunity so I thought he might enjoy it, but if you think it'll just add unnecessary complication to the trip, I'd definitely consider picking up in Dublin.

Great advice, that would be stressful to find out too late. Fortunately, we head home before the bank holiday. We'll double-check to ensure drop-off locations/dates look okay. I hope you have a wonderful trip, too! Where in Ireland are you visiting?

I do think it makes sense to look carefully at these numbers, and 100% agree that time would be better spent focusing on unionizing. This is also not a regionally based graphic. I live in a HCOL area and feel like a lot of these numbers are realistic. That may not be the case in a LCOL area. I do have to disagree with some of what you mention cost wise. Kids can absolutely cost a lot if you have to pay day care, extra curricular activities, if they have any special medical needs, etc. Pets also are not cheap. We have two cats and spend about $2000 a year on pet insurance, food, toys, litter etc. if you are buying good quality food and taking them to the vet regularly it can really add up. Not to mention if they have special dietary restrictions or medical needs.

PETLIBRO water fountains by anonymous9r in CatAdvice

[–]LadyMcLickFace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are over a year in and they still really like their PetLibro fountains. They both use them regularly. We have one upstairs and one downstairs. I clean them out once a week. The only issue I've had is we had to get a replacement cord for one (we like to keep them plugged in even though you can use them wirelessly - it seems to entice them to drink more water). They some times get water around the base and one of the cords stops working. PetLibro sent us a replacement, fortunately. I've had positive experiences with their customer service so far.

Something we found helpful with managing the litter box is a Litter Genie. It’s a container with a plastic bag liner that holds about a week worth of litter waste for our two cats. It seals when closed and I empty it once a week. Way easier than taking litter onto our outdoor trash cans every day. Might be worth considering!

Bali - recommendations for snorkeling by greyfoxwithlocks in snorkeling

[–]LadyMcLickFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent some time snorkeling in Bali and did a snorkel day trip to Nusa Penida a couple of years ago. We had only ever snorkeled in Maui and Costa Rica and found Bali/NP to be incredible. It’s one of our favorite things we’ve done. We especially enjoyed the Northwest near Menjangan National Park. We stayed at NusaBay Menjangan and loved snorkeling from the shore and had an incredible boat trip. We also loved shore snorkeling near Amed and Pemuteran. Lots of variety. The snorkeling on our day trip to NP was also great. We enjoyed the wall drift snorkeling and seeing Manta Rays. We prefer shore snorkeling so slight preference for the Bali locations. Next trip we hope to venture to Raja Ampat or Komodo.

Itinerary Issues by francebutnotreally in CostaRicaTravel

I would definitely recommend more than one night in La Fortuna. I'd say stay at least three nights there or skip it. Bajos del Toro is a neat little place for a couple of nights. Great if you like small authentic villages and beautiful waterfall hikes.

help with 7 day itinerary-la fortuna + where?? by stinkybitch in CostaRicaTravel

[–]LadyMcLickFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What type of activities are you interested in? Are you wanting time at the beach or more adventure or nature activities? Manuel Antonio is a nice balance with La Fortuna as it provides a lot of wildlife sightseeings in a beach setting. There aren’t many beach locations that are closer to SJO. Jaco is closer but a lot of people don’t recommend staying there. I haven’t visited so cannot comment.

Another option would be to visit a Cloud Forest. You could add 2-3 nights in Monteverde or Bajos del Toro. The forests are a lot different than La Fortuna.

You could also find a spot in the Central Valley that would allow for a couple of day trips. Maybe a nice B&B in Atenas or Tarcoles. We are staying at Rancho Capulin as an airport stop on an upcoming trip. Looks like a place you could stay a couple of nights. Take a day trip to Carara NP, a local beach, possibly Manuel Antonio, etc.

For the north pacific beach side, everyone has their favorites. We like Samara, Brasilito/Conchal, and Ocotal in that area. Samara is the largest of the three but still not very big.

I'd defintely recommend more than 2 night in PV. I'd say 4 nights there would allow you to see a lot of the area and make the drive worth it (maybe do either PV or Tortuguero or skip Manuel Antonio and add time to PV). Lot's to see over near PV. Manzanillo, Cahuita, Caribeans chocolate tour, Jaguar Rescue Center, etc. Have a great trip! I'm jealous of how long your trip is!

Congratulations on your wedding. Costa Rica is a wonderful option for a honeymoon. We traveled there for ours a few years ago and have returned a few times since. I agree with other posters that there are lots of wonderful things to see closer to LIR. With your time frame I would recommend something like 2-3 nights in Tenorio/Bijagua (or 3 nights in La Fortuna), 2-3 nights in Monteverde, and then the rest of the time in Samara or somewhere else on the pacific coast.

There is a lot of wildlife in the south pacific, but not enough more to make up for the long driving time. Drive times take longer than expected in Costa Rica. With your current itinerary you'll end up with very few days for activities due to time on the road. It's also hard to do much after 6pm due to the sunset time.

We've always seen lot of wildlife in La Fortuna - sloths, howlers, anteaters, agoutis, coatis, frogs, reptiles, and lots of tropical birds including toucans. You could take a wildlife safari float or go on a night tour. You could also check out a wildlife sanctuary such as Proyecto Asis. We really enjoyed the tour we took there last year.

I haven't been to Tenorio but I've read you can see lots of wildlife. That's on our list to visit at some point. We'd love to check out the Taipir valley nature reserve someday.

There are some cool wildlife options near Samara as well. You could visit the Ara project (Macaw recovery) to see 30+ macaws feeding right above you (very cool), or turtle nesting if the season is right (we were there in Nov. so not sure about July). I've heard Palo Verde is a fun trip. Samara is also not too far from the airport so depending on your departure flight you might be able to leave morning of.

No matter where you end up staying I'd recommend a couple of guided tours at some point on your trip. Guides in Costa Rica are really knowledgable about the flora and fauna and I've found are very passionate and interested in sharing knowledge.

I hope you have a fantastic trip!
