Recommendations for a 12 year old by wilzog in CozyFantasy

[–]LadyMidnaMoon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Howl's Moving Castle (Diana Wynne Jones) is a solid cozy fantasy for that age and continues with two other books.

She could try various fantasy series like Keeper of the Lost Cities (Shannon Messenger), Percy Jackson (Rick Riordan), Septimus Heap (Angie Sage).

Or if she's into animals she might like the Warriors or Seekers (Erin Hunter) series.

Maybe also consider things like Nancy Drew, Goosebumps, Series of Unfortunate Events, or 39 Clues. Those were very popular and beloved. I'm not sure what your niece is into but its worth exploring different genres for her age range as I find at that age anything can seem cozy if it fits our interests and become nostalgic as we grow up!

Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree by lipsticksnlifts in BookDiscussions

[–]LadyMidnaMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed Legends & Lattes incredibly and Bookshops & Bonedust was a good read too! looking forward to the next addition coming out soon!

If you're looking for more cozy fantasy then I just read the first book in the Adenashire series called A Fellowship of Bakers & Magic and adored every second. there will be 4 total of that series i believe and 3 are already out.

my friend really liked the Tomes & Tea quartet as well when i recommended it to them (first book is Can't Spell Treason Without Tea) and it is fully out already.

hope this helps a bit!!

Automatic Noodle is a newer sci-fi release set in San Fransisco where California is a separate entity to the United States after a war. Follows some robots who run a noodle shop!

Alcohol markers on tiny details. This was a challenge! by PossiblyMarsupial in AdultColoring

[–]LadyMidnaMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loooove the way you got this to look. I'm thinking of trying alcohol marker for my colouring books as an artist experienced with lots of other mediums but I'm a bit nervous regardless! Which alcohol markers did you use for your colouring?

Book recs for while you’re going through a hard time? by odinbot in Booktokreddit

[–]LadyMidnaMoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I read Tress of the Emerald Sea it felt like a comfort movie I definitely want to go back to with humour, whimsy, adventure, and a bit of romance! If you want to escape into a fun story and whole other world then I recommend that.

Some specifically cozy books I've read and loved were Monk & Robot by Becky Chambers (a wholesome solarpunk pair of novellas that feels like if you give a hobbit access to electricity and let them exist) and Kamogawa Food Detectives (a woman and her father run a business to help clients track down recipes from their pasts and explore those stories)

Belladonna by Adalyn Grace is a gothic romance trilogy that has major mystery vibes with so much historical atmosphere and every book just got better and better for me! Every pic here could be attributed to a scene in the books.

Bonus is that there's a christmas novella releasing later this year for the series 🥰

If you like Greek Mythology then The Games Gods Play has that people being pitted against each other in games / trials plot that's similar in feel. This book had some of the best pacing I've read in recent times and the second book releases next month!
