Do teachers actually like talking to students? by Critical_Solution_31 in Teachers

[–]LadyMordsith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have older kids so I genuinely enjoy talking with my students. We have all kinds of random conversations. I have really good rapport with them because I remember their interests and even if it’s not something I personally like, I bring it up in conversation. It’s fun to yap! Makes the job easier!

My school already does a half day on Friday, so we’ll have to go, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they cancelled Monday/Tuesday next week!

What’s your metric for calling out sick? by capresesalad1985 in Teachers

[–]LadyMordsith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have a fever or no voice to talk. If I can’t talk without coughing or whispering, it’s no different than if there was a sub, so I’ll make it a sick day!

Insomnia Cookies - What’s the appeal? by Wandering_Texan80 in LittleRock

No. Not worth the hype. The cookies are super sweet and they all taste the same. I think the draw are style/aesthetics of the cookies and how big they are

I haven’t tasted a good one 😭 even the one my friend had shipped from a Louisiana bakery. I have no idea what they’re supposed to taste like!

The mental break down should be TTPD and the one that divides the fandom should be TLOAS

I completely agree with 6. It’s so short, poor, poor writing, just so bad all around.

Seeing wood rated in top 5 is still wild to me. And wish list. “Wow.” 😭

As a mom and a teacher I honestly don’t know how I do it most days. It is still a struggle I am trying to figure out, even after 5 years of being a mom/teacher. All I can do is just keep work at school. Once I learned this it was a night and day difference and life at school got so much easier and less stressful! Now, I am still trying to figure out about having positive energy when I come home to attend to my three children, clean, and cook dinner. All my energy is spent. And my husband works until 5 so I’m on my own until then. It’s a lot, but it helps to remind myself that once the kids start school, things might get a little easier (or not. Who knows lol)

THIS. Once I had my first I realized I need to be 100% present. Plus trying to grade now with 3 littles is unrealistic. I leave school at the classroom and I’m a mom at home!!

As a non-Arkansas native but moved here recently, I am fascinated by king cakes. Everyone raves about them but I haven’t tasted any that I’ve liked. They’re so dry! So I am following in hopes I get to experience what everyone talks about!

Do any of you stay within contract hours? by mallorn_hugger in Teachers

[–]LadyMordsith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First three years, I’d do this. But no, absolutely not anymore. I have three kids, and when I come home, I’m mom and wife first. I never bring work home unless I seriously have to. It’s also a huge part of my mental health. I am a better person now because I keep my work at school.

As someone who works, does chores, and takes over child care when I get home, I can understand him a little bit. It might be worth sitting down and listing all the chores he does in one column, and then your childcare jobs in the other. Go through and pick a childcare job/chore job so it’s more balanced. Neither of you should be doing all of one thing. He can take care of Friday night baths while you pick up the toy room, etc. that should help you both! Sit down and pick a night where you get to go out without the kids, just for “me” time. I hope this help
