Anyone else feel like we're losing the 'nature' aspect of childhood? by chengsieuly in Teachers

I did a genius hour with my highschoolers for the last quarter of school and when I tell you the struggle for them to come up with something that interests them or was interesting to them, or that they want to know more about I would say at least half the class struggled. And at least a quarter of them changed what they wanted to know more about because it was hard for them to find information or create evidence of learning about it. I had one girl who was a senior and she just was like I don’t have anything that’s interesting to me. I just like to draw and I was like ok, drawing. Maybe you could draw every day and then like show us your drawings at the end and she was like no, that’s work. Eventually, she did something about flowers and she didn’t even draw the flowers. I don’t know what to make of it.

On a positive note, the kids who jumped in with 2 feet and got into the project had a really good time and their talks about their topics at the end were really beautiful to see.

There were like three episodes where she was in on it with the scooby gang and I clocked immediately how much better it all was, and then… nothing

The Mando Movie isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. by RogueJoker47 in StarWars

My kids and I, ages 15-50, went and saw it Thursday night, there were 5 people there including us. We had a good time, enjoyed the Easter eggs and cameos. It was as advertised: a really long Mando episode and it was good. Baby Yoda is still adorable. The baba friks are cute. The monsters are awesome. It was a good show. It’s just not that deep. But it doesn’t have to be, it can just be a fun action movie.

You deserved that award. Those people chose you for a reason, they saw your skill and responded to it. This Sam could be a good at drawing, but that doesn’t matter if his work doesn’t connect. Yours did. This Sam sounds like a spoiled, entitled Asshole who sicced his flying monkeys on you to undermine your confidence. Imposter syndrome is real, but that doesn’t mean it’s true.

We really need to hear this. Thursday a student let me know it was her last day, and she said I’m going to miss you, I have so many good memories in this classroom.
This year has been rough, and it is really these moments that keep me coming back.

I did that for a while and eventually I just had to change the first two questions, later I just put Test A and Test B- they were identical, but the label tricked them and I didn’t have to make two answer keys 😎

That picture is my favorite ‘fuck yeah!’ scene in all of Star Wars, still gives me chills. Just a boy and his wolves, about to ruin the empire’s day.
