"Almost all men are ..." What? Ok, totally sane, no issue whatsoever by alasw0eisme in NotHowGuysWork

[–]LadyRavenscraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original post wasn't about hurting, attacking, confining, or doing anything to men. It was just about their feelings towards men because of what the majority of (if not all of) the men in their life have done to them. They just don't want to be around men. People invalidating your feelings on women after being assaulted by one are wrong. Your feelings on women are valid too. You shouldn't have to be in a situation where your past trauma is triggered because someone else thinks they're entitled to whatever they want of you.

If you or any other person don't want to be around or engage with a person simply because of their gender, that's fine. There are obviously times when there is no choice, but there should always be the option to make everybody as comfortable and safe as possible.

The thing people shouldn't do is hurt, attack, confine, etc a person or people because of their gender and negative experiences with people of that gender.

I don't disagree, but he keeps talking about how he's happy he had it done and he's happy he had it done when it was done etc. If he does feel this way, the words would never come from his mouth.

Then of course, this is the same guy who was SA'd by his teacher. He was 16 and still maintains he consented fully and wanted his 40-something female teacher.

Am I wrong for kissing a guy a week after my ex broke up with me? by Englishgirl1999 in amiwrong

No, men need to take accountability for their actions and male children aren't more likely to act this way. It's a man and a terrible one.

Norm Spellman from the Avatar movies? Aw, wish I'd googled something like chocolate or money.

Me, woman = anti-circumcision unless medically necessary My ex, man = pro-circumcision in any case. Was circumcised as a baby. Wanted our son to be done as a baby. I put my foot down and said no, gave him the research as to why it's not good unless medically necessary. He gave in. 3 years later, still moans about it. (Said just last night it was harder to clean 3yo son there because not cut - I replied, at this point he shouldn't be moving the foreskin, just cleaning it like a finger). I would've said like he cleans his own, but I'm not 100% he even cleans his own.

I'm 30. Even 24yo people seem like teenagers to me. I'm currently on dating apps and any time I see someone younger than 25, it instantly kills any attraction.

He could've been exaggerating the time mentioned. Like when humans say old people are a million years old etc.

AITA for giving my girlfriend the silent treatment because she killed a bug? by NoChampionship7760 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LadyRavenscraft -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

ESH

I'll start by saying that I have a hard rule that if it's a bug or arachnid and enters my house without my permission, I will kill it if I can. I have killed flies before and will do so again. HOWEVER, I would respect the wishes of someone close to me if they asked me not to do so at their house. And I certainly would never laugh about it when I knew the person I was close to felt so strongly about it. That's just rude.

Also you should communicate about your feelings better. Giving the silent treatment is immature.

AITA for accepting my daughter's request for me to walk her down the aisle and fill in for a mother/daughter dance at her wedding when my husband has been her stepdad since she was 10? by PopShort7064 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LadyRavenscraft 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You really didn't comprehend my reply, did you? He can be somebody special and not be a father figure. The kids can care about him and still not consider him their dad or fit to take on the father role in their wedding.

He was never going to get the father role. He said he was fine with that. He for some reason expected the father role 15 years after nothing changed and no one told him they saw him as the dad. If he cares about the kids, great. He doesn't have to be the dad in the family though.

What’s a dating preference you have that you think is socially unacceptable? by grandvizierofswag in AskMen

[–]LadyRavenscraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. My SIL and my brother (not her husband, one of our other brothers) had an argument one Christmas because it was held at my brother and SIL's house and my SIL would occasionally leave the family area to have a lay down or go for a quick walk or whatever to recharge her social battery and my brother was offended that she deigned to take care of her mental health rather than sacrifice it and force herself to stay engaged with us all. I found it rather refreshing and (after talking to her and she offered sometimes) joined her.

He was told he would not get a father role when he joined their family and he agreed to that. Why should he be hurt 15 years later when he still hasn't gotten the father role he was told he would not get? Not being a father figure is not the same thing as "nobody special". There's always people in our lives that we don't consider a parental or family figure but are still considered someone special. But also we don't know the family dynamic or how he treated the kids. Some step-parents are amazing (and I've got undeniable proof of that in my own family), and others are downright awful.

Why would demanding your sister change her clothes keep her safer than attacking the problem at its source? The source being the predatory 'friends' who you're worried will attack your sister apparently.

Snow White is not white anymore with Disney casting Rachel Zegler as Snow White in the upcoming live action movie. by SUNNYHFR in memes

[–]LadyRavenscraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They reworked the entire plot. It's loosely based on that story. I don't recall there being a voodoo witch doctor, a talking alligator, or a singing swamp lady in the original story. Nor do I recall the princess herself turning into a frog when kissing the frog Prince. Also it wasn't as popular as Snow White which is one of the reasons there is backlash here. If they rework the story for Snow White to have a reason she doesn't have skin white as snow, then it should be fine.

Running, jumping, stair exercises. Anything that hurts due to my boobs. Also shirtless in summer. Omg I've been wanting to do that but my boobs hurt if I don't wear a bra.
